Nope, waste of my time. If I'm not having fun or learning anything what does it help to finish the game?

I may end finishing it, if I were almost done with it, and it was fun in the beginning, but then I will probably never touch it again. Ever.

I do.

Damn OCD.
I go one step further with my OCD/completion complex. I HAVE to get 100% on EVERY ONE of my games. It's really wasted a lot of my times.
oh :s
I consider main campaign completion to be 100%, and anything else is extra.

depends on how far I got into the game when the little man in my brain pops up and says;
"Hey you're not having fun!"

Sometimes I don't even finish a game I actually DO like.

*Sigh* Why was I cursed with such a damn short attention span? Oh right, the internet.

Considering the low incomes of my household I really don't have the opportunity to buy games all that often. So I tend to decide whether I like it or not after I've finished. There are exceptions. I ALMOST gave up on Splinter Cell double agent just because the last 3 missions get insanely hard and buggy. But, I figured it'd be all worth it in the end.

God, was I wrong. Fuck that ending, man

I once got into an argument with a guy because he said if I didn't play a game through to the end then I had no right to say I didn't like it.

This guy also admitted to buying CD's by bands he hated just so he could have an "informed opinion" on them or whatever.
This makes sense, I mean, you can't really be well informed if you haven't beaten the game. But the fact that you don't WANT to beat the game should be a hint that it is a bad game.

Depends on what it means to finish. 100% completion? Fuck no. Get though the main story? Yes.

Unless it makes me want to start breaking shit, then no.

I have finished games I did not like, and I have unfinished games that I did like.

Alot of other factors go into whether I finish a game or not.

Seeing how far I get through a game is actually how I judge how good it is. For example, I could barely get an hour into Duke Nukem before switching to something else, thus it is a terrible game in my opinion. In contrast, I'm still playing TF2 despite 70% of the time being plagued with stupid teammates, so it is a good game.

If I start something I have to finish it just to find out what happens no matter how much I hate it. Books, Movies and Games. With one exception. I read War and Peace despit the fact it was one of the most boring thing I have ever encountered. I sat through the Star Wars Prequals even through I had more fun having my wisdom teeth removed. But Final Fantasy 13. I managed to get about 20 hours in, to grand pules. Supporters of the game claim that it gets good about then because you actually have the freedom to do things other than run down different corridors but I fould that just as boring. I was tired of the painfully bad story and the mindblowingly inoying Characters. The first and only game to date that I have never finished. And I have played Too Human.

Depends. I really wanted to send back Duke Nukem Forever (I only rented it thankfully) as I'd had enough with it, but because the achievements were generally easy to get or I knew I could get them, I continued with it. Achievements are usually my motivation. Having said that, there were a few achievements in DNF that were unfair and very frustrating. I shouldn't really have let the game get to me so much when I clearly didn't like it. But I just can't bear to leave a game unfinished achievement-wise.

However, I did do that with Final Fantasy XIII. I should never have bought that game when I knew I don't even like JRPGs. God knows what got me to buy it... If I enjoyed the gameplay, characters and story (the story I was sort of alright with, but the gameplay felt like a chore) some more, I probably would have finished it.

I struggle to finish games I don't enjoy, though I usually do finish them in the end...

It all depends for me really...

If I dislike the game or I think it's all just a little bit dumb, then I'll generally struggle through simply to justify the purchase.

If the gameplay itself is actually boring then I'm more likely to just put it down and never return.

I played all the way through F.E.A.R. despite being bored out of my head and then I played through it AGAIN later on because so many people said it was great and I had to check to see if somehow I had missed the greatness. It was even less engaging the second time round.

The last game was MGS4, I liked the previous three, so I had to see how this one turned out, and it was the biggest waste of time I ever spent playing a game.
Someone shoot this guy in the kneecap.
I think that's a tad bit of an extreme measure to keep someone awake through MGS4s copious number of cutscenes.

In response to others in this thread I too finished 'Dirge of Cerberus' (couldn't be assed to finish 'Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII') and am thinking that perhaps we should start a 'Dirge' support group.
