That seems a bit harsh, but then again, I've only once had someone ask me for "pics" (in a strange reversal the individual assumed that since I was playing a male character I of course had to be female...) and that was when I gave WoW a chance and later decided that I didn't like it specifically because of the kind of people I kept encountering.Demented Teddy said:

Then in games like Halo - you get some guys that are a bit too friendly, age/pics/location - befriends - lets talk? boobs? Though at least its less hostile and I can actually play till the end of a map - usually.

Yes, the moderators there are quite strict on swearing, but you can be a complete chauvinist tool and nobody bats an eye.
I do feel bad for the guys legitimately trying to make a friend who just happens to be female, though. The ones who won't send you private messages asking for pics or any other information. The ones who legitimately like the way you play and hopefully wish to compete again.

This, and every other stupid/ofensive/racist/pointless/unfunny/etc. comment is why I rarely use online multiplayer, and when I do, I have chat turned off. I know that makes me less "Kredit to Team" when I can't communicate easily, but when nobody else is using it for what it was made for, why should I?

Well honestly what do you want? We as humans are programmed to be attracted to the opposite sex (no I don't hate gays I'm actually bisexual myself) And with online gaming there is nothing at all to indicate your sex other than your F**KING avatar. What do you want us to do develop remote viewing to tell whether you?re a boy or a girl! And yes I know it gets annoying when a guy will come up to you for nothing but the sole reason of hoping you will flash then some polygon panties. But hey guess what we are a sad lonely bunch with no hope of social interaction beyond our PC and yes I myself am included in this category. While I have never talked to a girl simply hoping she lives three doors down and easier than a dead hooker on ecstasy. I AM guilty of talking to a person simply because they had a female avatar. And guess what you whiny A***OLES I'm very good friends with HER now. I also have to point out those miraculous story's of gamers finding love over the internet (whether through a game or internet dating service) further bolster our hopes of finding something meaningful so guess what IT WONT END! Because there are some of us out here who that despite how we act in front of the opposite sex are hopeless romantics longing for an impossible love. So either change your avatar's sex or start flashing some bite-sized bits!
My girlfriend tends to enjoy responding coquettishly to guys like that in games because they give her free items/help/advice/whatever. I guess that makes her a bit of an e-cocktease. Which is hilarious, since in person she is fairly shy.
