Actually, Vrex, much of what he (Yahtzee) said was pretty much stuff a lot of people were thinking and may have said in the past, but since most of us are worthless-shmoes and not Yahtzee, no one gave two bits about what we said. Plus he tends to say it better than we (or at least I) could ever hope to.
That said, I've long disliked Quick Time Events. They can bugger off for all I care. I like to relax when I'm gaming, I mean, that's why we PLAY games isn't it? They're these things we play in our recreational time to unwind and relax? I don't know about other people, but games haven't been so relaxing in the last 10 years or so. QTEs are one of the things that have popped up which just eat away at me when I play games. I don't have super reflexes, and when a cut scene shows up I DO put the controller down so I can enjoy the scene not so I can be ready to jump up at any second for a button pressing fest. Half of which I fail even when pressing the right button in some games.. I'm looking at YOU Resident Evil 4!
So yeah, even though some games like Shenmue really used them well, most games do not. It was nice when QTEs were these interesting new ideas that were only used in a few games (before Shenmue, they were nearly nonexistent), but now they're everywhere. And mashing.. let's face it, I'm 27 and I can't do the Weasel Fingers or whatever it's called to mash a specific button anymore without my hand/wrist aching afterwards.
Mind you, being high strung probably isn't the best state of mind to be playing most of today's games in...
