Unfortunately, yes. People that I used to be able to find on MSN can only be found there now, along with a lot of people from specific community forums that have become dead since.

Fucking hate it. I'd completely forgotten how stupid people could be; I always find myself staring in disbelief at whatever's been shat onto my newsfeed/homepage most recently each time I open it. I should code/find a filter, especially for those like pages.

I have and I use it to stay in touch with my friends, real life friends I don't add people I don't know and realy neither do most people, it's a strange assumption about facebook and a little hypocritical coming from an internet forum. My friends have all gone to uni anyway so this is the only way I can stay in touch with them easily on a regualr basis, so what?

Yes, I do. I like to keep in touch with my friends who I don't see on a fairly common basis.

Please don't flame me
I don't see why anyone would flame you because of that. If they did, I'm sure they'd be a stupid troll. Stand firm in your beliefs, man! haha.

OT: I dooo, and use it to talk to friends because I moved from my hometown.
It's also a bad idea having family on Facebook, because you have to be careful what you post or what you do, as one of them will have something to say about it, or tell my mum ;___;

I do, just to check if someone in real life desperately needs me.

They never do.

No, and I never ever ever intend to. For one, I find the appeal of social networking to be bizarre and inexplicable, and quite frankly narcissistic. But even supposing I wasn't convinced the entire concept is a useless fad I'm better off avoiding, I would never contemplate using the Facebook.

Why? Well let's just say their founder and I have fundamentally incompatible views on the nature of privacy - I would go into more details, but that would require communicating almost entirely in expletives and I like to think I have some measure of class.

So yeah, Facebook is right out.

I don't, I might be forced to get one though by my classes lack of other communication methods.

I have one, I'm not afraid to admit that I check mine almost daily. However, I don't bother myself with those crappy Zynga Games that everyone loves so much. Social networking should just be used for that, social networking.

Even though I could make a fairly sizable list of things that annoy me about Facebook, I use it every day and am thankful for it.

Facebook is just a tool for messaging people, sharing photos and organising events. Most of the stuff that annoys people about Facebook can be controlled fairly easily (notifications can be turned off, invites can be hidden, you can control who sees what on your profile). I think saying you don't use Facebook because of Farmville or "likes" or whatever reason is like saying you don't use email because of spam or you don't use a phone because of cold calls. Considering its the main way to keep in touch with people on a mundane level, not using Facebook can sortof be shooting yourself in the foot in social terms.

Nope! I don't plan to get one. I don't want people to be able to quickly search me and find out all that personal info. Kinda scary...

Sure thing, i find it quite entertaining at times with some of the more random things that occur on it.

And also finding out some very big things about peoples lives via updates. Hell, thats how i found out that one of my friends is engaged on the weekend. :\
Though i would have found out tonight if i didn't.
Hell, add me through this website if you want (just state in the add that you are from the escapist) cause i love meeting and talking to new people randomly.

Yes, and I use it to manage my personal brand (in other words, I write funny crap that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU should be following and reading! Clicky. [http://www.facebook.com/MysteryShipRadio] You'll love it. Just send me a PM with your request so I'm not like "who the fuck is this person?")

If indeed employers are looking at this sort of stuff, I'll freak out the accounting firms but might be able to land a job as a gag writer, which is an infinity-plus-one times more rewarding career anyway.

I used to. I got the hell out when it started getting popular. I absolutely do not want my mother/extended family/old ex-friends from high school getting all up in my business. It's bad enough just having a phone. Everyone acts like I'm obligated to communicate with them whenever they want. Fuck that; I'm busy enough already without having to constantly check in with a bajillion people, most of whom are idiots.

It kinda scares me how few people actually value their privacy anymore.
