Sorry, I guess you're so bloody tired of this but I just wasn't able to resist.
OT: Yeah, I do it but I do it subconsciously. And I never take anything really bad from them (unless they're anime, just rubs me the wrong way).

The only things your avatar shows me

-is a bit of your personality.
-It gives me a small hint of what you like.
-It can show something you think.

Those are all first impressions which are non-avoidable. To answer your question: Yes, but because I don't really have a choice.
We always have a choice and a say in how to judge people, so don't make excuses...
I'm talking about the first few seconds of when you first see someone. The minute you see that person, you will judge him, either in a postive way, a negative way or a neutral one. The choice comes right after if you choose to follow that first impression or not.

What I meant is, my first impression of someone just pops in my head. Therefore, I can't really choose on the spot. However, I can choose to accept this or not.

Let's take for example: you. Yes, you. When you said "so don't make excuses", the first thing that popped into my head is someone saying "That statement is bullshit". Now, I have my first impression. I can stop and think about it. After that, I choose to accept this impression and make a rebuttal saying "No, you're full of shit". Or, I choose to not follow this and accept the idea that you have a different perspective.

That being said, I'm interested in knowing what you meant.

I'd like to think I don't, since I tend not to notice the avatar unless it's animated (you know, being too busy actually reading the posts...)

---

The fact that so many people seem to judge each other based on avatars kinda makes me feel like changing mine to one that's not this dull (though I guess it's a pretty fair representation of myself)

Sometimes people's avatars can give you an indication of their interests, but that's about it.

It would be hard for anyone to judge my avatar as 90% of this site don't know what the fuck it is!

If I like the persons avatar I will remember them over a shitty avatar.
It's a sniper in the rain!

Which I only knew because you told me, most people have no clue what my avatar is either.

Some times.

Wait actually, Off topic, but if you were to judge me based on my Avatar what would you think O_O
That you're good at recognizing identical fight scenes in various animes?

What does my avatar say about me?
A fifth person in my trap!

Huzza!
(The trap was proving that you can't judge people based off of their Avatar, as you're most likely incorrect.)

Thats just stupid. I judge people on how they act, for example, most of the people at my school are rednecks which means they act like douchebags, therefor I hate them.

It tells me that you found a picture that may or may not have been humorous and wanted to share that with the world every time you posted... but because you just resized it I can't read what makes the empty room in the picture funny. Sorry...

Just wondering but what is yours from, it's been bugging the hell out of me, I just finished watching NGE because I thought it was from that but I didn't see it anywhere in the show, it's driving me crazy!
Ahh, you're close. My avatar is from the movie 'End of Evangelion'. Truly, I feel that End of Evangelion is almost required watching if you're going to watch the main series since it does a wonderful job of making the ending make a little more sense. Gotta warn ya though, End of Evangelion is split into 2 halves. The first half has the most violent and awesome scene I have ever seen in an anime... followed immediately by the most heart wrenching, brutal, and horrible scene I have ever seen. The second half... Well, it'd make Freud's head explode.

not usualy but there is one guy who has an anti-obama one and I judge him to be a jerk by that, since its suprisingly wordy for an avatar. If youve seen it then you know it.
Well I feel sorry for you then. I'm one of the nicest people you could meet.
perhaps you are, perhaps you arnt, that isnt the point, the point is that your avatar gives me cause to judge you negativly. When I see it I see the 2008 elections, it sounds like either the tea party idiots as I said before or like something the mccain campain would be yelling about. I mean judging purly from your avatar I can easily see you saying something like "hes gonna put old people into death panels and use their organs to make young people older" or some such nonsense. Perhaps thats not you but I sure get the impression it is by your avatar.

Anime irks me.
Aside from that, I do take avatars as a minor representation of one's personality.

Such as my self-portrait.

Not really. I like them if they are neat, and I will sometimes mention it. I love Random Argument Man's avatar, and Onyx Oblivion. And Worgen's. And I think Jenova65's is terrific. But I don't really judge them on their avatars.

As others have said, it usually just tells me what the poster likes. I do like it if they choose a unique one, it makes it easier to find their posts.

And the OP's avatar is also awesome. That is one of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes strips.

What about my avatar would cause you to think that? Where in my avatar does it show a resemblance to anything the republicans or tea party would say? Where do you come to this conclusion?

Now if you are referring about the "Chains we cannot afford" part, well think about it. He wants to expand government further into our personal lives. More bureaucrats telling us what to do and how to live our lives, seems like a good metaphor to me.

What I am getting from you is that being against Obama means you're stupid.
its because your taking a quote of his and making it sound bad by exclusion of punctuation and since you dont define what that chains part means really it comes out as sounding like voting dem means you are trying to remove freedom or something stupid like that, I mean you sound really republican and they are much worse then dems when it comes to things like this and getting into it anymore is really getting into it in the wrong place for these forums, if you want to send me a pm and we can yell at each other about it there thats fine, or if you want to take this to the politics forum thats fine too but this forum isnt the place for it, I said why I judge you by your avatar and nothing you have said really changes my opinion, I mean you defined your argument but you didnt really, you gave a very vauge outline defending yourself but it doesnt really answer any questions and doesnt give me any other way to interpet your avatar

Looking into people's avatars into detail and you see why they use them to represent themselves.

Like me for example... The Cookie Monster from Sesame Street is called that because he loves and eats cookies... Not the other crap this world calls food. So you can see where I stand on political correctness and good role models.

Also The Cookie Monster is the most metal puppet in all of Sesame Street, The Muppets etc.

How do you know it your subconsciously influenced? Is.;t called a subconscious because you are unaware of the thoughts?
