As with many people above, I do judge a little but not to the extent I change how I speak to them because of it (unless it shows something in common). If it's something other than the default images then it allows me to have some sort of base to work on as I learn what they're like.

Well, the avatar a person chooses is what they choose to represent as themselves, so more or less yes. Some people make their avatars their favorite anime, game or movie (Like I've done) and other make it something random (Like Hubilub or Neonbob.)

The avatar is more or less how I see other people in my mind so I guess I do judge people by their avatars.
Just wondering but what is yours from, it's been bugging the hell out of me, I just finished watching NGE because I thought it was from that but I didn't see it anywhere in the show, it's driving me crazy!

OT: I do depending what it is, most of them I don't really care about, but if it has something political or anything like that then I definitely do.

So, in all honesty and harshness (yes, go ahead, hang as much shite as you want), what would you way about mine?
And no, but someone called me a douche for having another one up, kinda went 'Um, WTF?' and changed it. But didn't like it anyway, plus, this one represents my soulllllllllll..........

Not at all.
As is the case for most of my judgments online, I base my opinion of someone off of what they have to say. If someone has an avatar I really like, yet expresses themselves in a completely douche-filled manner, then they are just as annoying as a like-mannered poster with a horrible avatar.
For a post count as massive as yours and an avatar as memorable, how come I dont recall seeing you on these forums at all?
That is odd.
I've been in the Forum Games for a while, though.
Are you sure we haven't run into each other? You seem kinda familiar...

Nope, I don't do that. Avatars are my main way of recognising people though. I get really confused when someone changes their avatar and that's why I'll stick to mine until the end of time!
I am very much in awe of the appropriateness of your avatar.

That aside- of course you judge people based on avatars, it's a visual representation of the person after all. On the other hand, that doesn't make sense to me since it's the internet.
Everything can be misleading o'er here.

You're a Lolicon, yes? (Term for people with a Loli Fetish)
Other way around.

Lolicon is the porn itself while Loli is either the plural term the pornography or the term for people with lolicon fetishes.

And yes I am.

What? Don't look at me like that.
Nothing to judge if you are under 18/21.
*Look at you*
XD.
I don't judge Avatars my self but i don't really like boring ones or ones that are stuff like yahtzee because that is over used...Also i judge them by the way they post..So if i think their attitude is good i like them and add them to friends.
And don't worry i was looking at Loli today but I'm under 18 XD....
Just don't become a Pedo man.

Yes usually.

It tells a lot about the person most of the time.

Just look at mine.
So judging by your avatar, your creepy and annoying. Nah just kidding.

Nope, doesn't mean a thing to me, doesn't tell me anything about them and doesn't make me treat them any differently.

The only things your avatar shows me

-is a bit of your personality.
-It gives me a small hint of what you like.
-It can show something you think.

Those are all first impressions which are non-avoidable. To answer your question: Yes, but because I don't really have a choice.
We always have a choice and a say in how to judge people, so don't make excuses...

Well, a good avatar will maek me like you more but a bad one won't make me dislike you. Unless you are posting on EVERY thread. If you seem like a dickhead and you have a bad avatar it will give me something to bag you about (in my mind).

I think it's like if you dislike someone who just so happens to be say fat or homosexual. You probably don't dislike them because of them being fat or gay. The fat or gay give you something to use against them.

I'm not homophobic. I used the exaple of homosexuality because a lot of people where I am are homophobic.

Judging by my avatar(s, past and present), they've all been screenshots/animations from cartoons, so I like cartoons. Which is true. However what you can't tell from my avatar is that I'm a furry and my main passion is metal, so, no, I don't judge people by their avatars. Unless they're retarded/racist/whatever.

Usually not, unless said person has some blatantly standoffish avatar (anything with an X over or through it, particularly presidents). Usually I find them fascinating. But I won't deny that some people are blatantly baiting people with their avatar, and I have no problem judging them - it's what they're going for after all.

Usually no, I don't really care what the avatar is. If I see one I think is cool I might read that users post a little more. I've been called lame for having an XBL avatar and i'll admit its probably a little unoriginal, but hey it was quick and easy XD. (This did happen in a forum game so I took it with a pinch of salt)

not usualy but there is one guy who has an anti-obama one and I judge him to be a jerk by that, since its suprisingly wordy for an avatar. If youve seen it then you know it.
Situations like this is the exception, I thought the same thing. I don't really think avatars should be used to promote a cause, specifically offensive ones.

I wouldn't say judge, but like it was said before, an avatar gives me a little picture of a person.

For example: if you know where my avatar is from, you can tell to which kind of music I listen.

Oh, and which Team I prefer in World at War and Day of Defeat ;)

I hate Avatar. Which means I hate all the actors in it. Stupid Dances With Smurfs.

...Wait... You meant forum avatars....
OT: I actually never thought of this as an issue, so I guess I don't really judge by them.

Having not played Mass Effect 2 yet, I don't know anything about the character in this guy's avatar. Knowing this will possibly let me know what kind of personality this guy has, seeing as how he might prefer this character/thinks the character is cool/is posting him for ironic reasons/ thinks he is someway similar the character.

Not really, but if I see one that is very unique or bears asking about it then yes I'll bring it up with the person.

I try not to judge people at all but whatever.

I hope that people wouldn't as I choose an avatar that says absolutely nothing about myself, not a picture of me, not a picture of something I like, not a picture of something I believe in just a random pic that makes me think that's something I don't mind people trying to find meaning in and go from there. Same with the name.

Well there's my 2 cents.
