Well, I am a bit of a narcissist, so my avatar is a well suited representation of myself.

...and Jim Carrey is awesome.

I don't judge people in the literal sense of the word, but I do tend to start visualising people as looking similar to their avatars if they use human looking avatars or pictures to represent themselves. However, if I learn someone with a female avatar is a male (not too uncommon) then I will invent a completely new image of them in my head.

Sometimes, but only useually in the case if it's one of those generic ones that come with the site, i useually judge people based on how they post.

EDIT: Also, out of curiosity, what do you guys judge from mine?
Okay, I'll bite. The person in your avatar is sort of creepy looking. Like he's hiding something sinister yet trying to seem innocent and cute with his riding hat. He may also support gay rodeos which is wrong because of animal cruelty. Thus, I infer that you enjoy cheeseburgers.

Only if the avatar states a pretty in you face thing, like, say, Obama crossed over with the red "no" sign.

Things like that just seem excessive to me.

P.s: How's my avatar make you all think about me?

Not at all.
As is the case for most of my judgments online, I base my opinion of someone off of what they have to say. If someone has an avatar I really like, yet expresses themselves in a completely douche-filled manner, then they are just as annoying as a like-mannered poster with a horrible avatar.
I'm a solid maybe. In Neonbob's case here, I smile to think of how many Greenpeacers turn green at his avatar. :D

I can't help it, I often do it.

For example, I disliked IdealistCommi and Furburt when I first started running into them simply because of their avatars. (Commies was the Peter Griffin one and Furburts was the first one he had). Don't know why, but I do do it. Can't help myself.

That's not to say I can't go back against that opinion easily.

If there's anyone else out their like me, I'd like to hear your thoughts about me. :p
For some reason your av makes me think of Rich Uncle Pennybags [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly_(game)] and The Penguin.
Totally pimpin'.

not usualy but there is one guy who has an anti-obama one and I judge him to be a jerk by that, since its suprisingly wordy for an avatar. If youve seen it then you know it.
Well people are entitled to their opinions, and his av isn't actually harmful. Maybe just misplaced being used in a gaming forum.
Yours on the other hand always makes me feel self conscious. I can hear a spaghetti western theme playing while those eyes bore into me. Make it stop! *hides*
Nah, I get a kick out of it since there was a lot from that movie I liked.

...thanks, I think the only thing that tops road to el dorado in the cartoon department for me is secret of nimh but Im not sure if its got anything that would make as good an avatar as this does
I forget which forum, but some time in the past I saw a sweet gif avatar showing the block lifting scene. Epic.

why would i judge some one by his avatar? That is insane, because it is not telling you anything about the person behind the picture. o_O

That you're good at recognizing identical fight scenes in various animes?

What does my avatar say about me?

No, I don't, what I did do was come up with this random username and was pushed by somefriends to make a picture that matches, but my last avatar told people I wish I was Ezio (Auditore Da Firenze, I like saying that ok?)

I do on Xbox Live more then here. First you see their gamertag, then their picture, then the avatar possibly. Sometimes you can judge people pretty well by their content.

Well I'd like to think I'd don't. But I know people judge me in part by my avatar(in an odd way). More then once some random guy had attacked me falsely for having the word "Twilight" in my screen-name. I had a different avatar then. Since I switched and my avatar to the title screen of The Twilight Zone, which my name properly references, nobody says anything. Whoo for being forced into using my second choice of avatar.

I don't really 'judge' by them, but if an avatar's memorable it makes it much easier to identify a user. If you have a forgettable avatar, people will tend not to notice.

First off, by "avatar" I mean any kind of customizable visual representation of a person. This includes forums like this and videogames like WoW.

I, personally, judge people. I don't mean that I see somebody with an avatar that I dislike, so I dislike them or anything. I mean that it becomes my representation of how I visualize that person. Somebody who has an avatar of some female anime character, for example, will make me see that person as female, no matter what evidence points to the contrary(other than a flat denial). It's a subconscious kind of thing.

It took me quite a while to realize this. I'd been playing WoW on a private server(Excellent way to break the habit, by the way. I'm now WoW-free) and had a few female characters(I'm male). It dawned on me one day while talking to in-game friends that they had no idea I wasn't female. It was actually kind of startling, and I ended up never playing as those characters again.

So what about you guys. Do you judge by avatars? Are you judging me right now?
Yeah I judge everyone based on their avatar, I chose mine because it looks a bit like me and I just generally like the character. In M.M.O.R.P.G.'s people should chose their character based upon their real life gender, unless of course they're a paedophile or something.

If people look at my avatar, then they can see that I'm a fan of one of the most epic RPG's ever made :) ... but that's all :p
