Whenever I browse the forums from day to day I always (sub-consciously) seem to value peoples comments who are have reach the 4 or over digit mark rather than the ones of people with 3 to 1 digits post (like myself)

And do you also pay closer attention to the comments of the more familiar members of community e.g Daystar Clarion, Fappy, Zhukov, SmashTitanQuest, Vault101 etc etc (sorry if I spelt any of those names wrong) over the "commoners" such as myself?

No...though if someone with one or two posts says something stupid, I tend to suspect them of being a troll, spambot, or clueless, just having joined the forum to blather about something they don't understand.

I always judge them by grammar more than anything. And I disregard anything that... that member says. You know. The one who posts rants with poor grammar. Not naming any names.

I used to back in '09/'10. I've moved on since then, after having realized it's rather silly.

Over the years I have since learned that regardless of how many posts can accrue in a span of time, they can still be dense and lack understanding (or the capacity to attempt to understand).

I judge comments based on the content and how the poster presents themself.
It matters not who the individual is or how many posts they've made prior, it's about what has been laid done in this singular instance. Though, if they keep posting on about the same things in the same manner I'm going to judge them from periodic observation and keep that judgement for future reference.

Who knows? Maybe certain people who I disagree with (*cough*andlookdownupon*cough*) become ones that I agree with in the future as a result of the two of us shifting views and changing our outlooks.

Not at all. I've seen equal amounts of intelligence among low post counters and high post counters alike. If anything I judge purely on the point they're trying to make, and in that regard having proper grammar really helps if you're trying to convince me of something. If you're still making a shitty point or condescending remark I will not respect you either way, however.

Yes, Clearly if they joined after me but have 10k post or something they are a chuntering ape no more being worthy of listened to than a talk radio DJ.

I started posting on the internet at www.insidetheweb.com (it was a website where anyone could make their own message board for anything and it's now a stub page) in a Goldeneye 64 "web ring" in 1996. Forums close or die out. The escapist is my most recent pit-stop on my travels across the internet. Won't be my last.

Point is, post counts mean literally nothing- aside from how much time you have to waste.

No, and I'll never understand this line of thinking. You know, the whole "pff, I knew this band years before you guys heard their song in that movie", it's beyond silly.

No, not really. When I was in the habit of using my friend's Facepunch account to view the LMAO threads, I saw an awful lot of circle jerking between the higher post members, and a lot of general pretentiousness. So I avoid it on that principle.

That said, if someone says something utterly stupid, and then I see they barely have any posts, as well as a recent join date, then I attribute it to that, as they would have less investment in the community.

It would have to be both of those things, though, as there are some members with four year old join dates with only a handful of posts.

Nope, and I hate whenever people bring it up as a badge of honour (thankfully doesn't happen here).

Usergroups and forum games make post count irrelevant anyway.

Nope, although if they have an really low post count, I may assume they're a spambot, although that's more due to the content as well.

Not at all.

At the end of the day, post count only represents the total amount of free time you have to hang around on the forums.

I certainly hope people don't do this.

[sub]More than thirty thousand posts you say? Nooo, you must be mistaken...[/sub]

Seriously though, I've seen some pretty insightful comments from people with relatively low post counts.

Also this.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit weary of people with single digit post counts.
But hey, we've all got to start somewhere, right?
You know . After reading this , i thought of something . There could be a post limit , and everyone should start at 50 000 and go down from there . That way , people wouldn't be judge those with low posts counts , and people would think before they post since every post counts .

Yes it's a dumb idea , but it's what came to mind reading your post.

Edit: forgot to answer the question . Yes i do , i generally think people with higher posts counts are more reliable in the information they give. Once i disagreed with someone on these forums and they replied by telling me off and saying i thought i was cool because i had a (reletively ) high post count . It was funny .

We all know I'm your king and you should listen to me and only me.
Every other post made here is worthless, mine are the gospel truth.

But nah, I don't and anyone who does so is a fucking moron, to put it bluntly.

Uh... a little bit?

I'm sometimes a bit dismissive of people with low counts.

However, it's more because I don't recognize them like I do the regulars. They just sort of fade into the background noise. Especially if they don't have an avatar.

I'm not addicted!

I can stop any time I want. I swear!
I consider myself fairly active on the forums, I come on every day and share my opinions on any threads that interest me like most people do. I don't know what class you fit into Topaz. Do you literally spend ALL DAY on the escapist?!

OT: Kinda, if they are new and just spouting complete shit then I will judge them, flag their post and move on... :3

Yes. A little bit.
It shows me what kind of social group the person belongs in and how long they have been there, so it does help.
Same as real life human relationships.

Not really no. Especially since user groups makes your post count skyrocket. I think I only have like 2,000 or so posts without them anyway, and a lot (maybe half?) of those are just from hanging out with mah peeps in forum games.
