Coming from someone with a low post count, I don't really judge people with high post count but it bugs me to no end:

How the hell do they get so high in post count ? (over 5000)
I'm in the same boat as you (Been here about as long and haven't reached 1000 yet). I hate when people hold my post count against me, especially if they haven't even been here that long. I don't post much by nature. If I have nothing of value to add, I won't say anything.
I feel the same, you know the whole quality over quantity thing, but I have no idea how people have the time to rack up post counts of 5000, never mind 20k or even 30k, so really I think it comes down to how much free time you have. As for the post count itself well yes and no, and by that I mean I'm less likely to take someone serious if they're new and have like ten posts because they might be a troll, but beyond that no because your post count doesn't mean much.
There are some that unfortunately do that and it seems some do it just to raise their post counts. Sometimes it jsut seems as if some people feel the need to post in pretty much every thread, even if they have no real input in the topic or are repeating what has already been said.

OT: I don't really, unless someone is saying inflammatory things I might check their post count to see if they just made a profile to troll or question how they haven't been banned lol It can been seen a bit with quoting though around the forums, if two people make virtually the same post it's just about always one of the regulars that gets quoted even if the other person posted first which is a bit silly to me.

I no judge. I spik gud english, me gud forum poster. Gramar exselent.

If someone has anything to say that I find interesting, I won't care about grammar, post count, or name. Not everyone is american/british/australian and english ain't the only language on the block so I can understand where the mistakes may be coming from. Post count can be interpreted in many ways from "too soft" to "no lifer" to "a guy who has interesting topics" and name... or avatar... well... it's the Interwebs... you gotta expect it.

I would say I judge slightly based on post count, kinda?

Having been a lurker longer than most (even after making my account I don't exactly post often) I've seen the 'regulars' rise (and get banned on occasion) and seen thousands of posts by a handful of people. Those people's opinions certainly mean more to me than most- not because they have a lot of posts but because I know their opinions on other topics and they tend to develop more interesting arguments in this context.

If someone has a low post count but has been around for a while (like myself) I tend to be more interested in what they have to say- if someone who never posts feels it's an important thing to say then it probably is. Except for when I post. I'm just boring.

I suppose I add the first post I see of someone's to the number of posts they've made and judge them. So I might dismiss a low count chap as a troll, and also dismiss a high post count chap as an inflammatory idiot with too much time on their hands, depending on what that one post I saw was, simply from past experiences of posters at both ends.

Edit: forgot to answer the question . Yes i do , i generally think people with higher posts counts are more reliable in the information they give. Once i disagreed with someone on these forums and they replied by telling me off and saying i thought i was cool because i had a (reletively ) high post count . It was funny .
Well, there's something to be said about how high post count often comes from "forum games" section.

Eeeeeeh, just get involved into everything that tickles you, I suppose. Having a lot of downtime helps as well.

Nope, and I hate whenever people bring it up as a badge of honour (thankfully doesn't happen here).

Usergroups and forum games make post count irrelevant anyway.
I second that. My actual forum post count is at about 1800.

Total posts? Pff, not at all.

I do feel a little thing for avatar-less people though. It's like they don't even took the time to make themselfs recognizable, you know.
Silly, silly motive, I know. But I can't help it.

having spent ages on the paradox forums, yes. but over there the only posts that count are on topic ones (about the games themselves)

that normally means the high counts are either modders that know there shit, or the denzins of the forum that answer questions (its rare to see someone thats not in the running for demi mod with under 2000 posts, which if i remember i just hit!!!)

also on the avatar thing, some people are off forums that don't let you upload customs so they don't bother (i want my HOI2 NZL flag!)

I always judge them by grammar more than anything. And I disregard anything that... that member says. You know. The one who posts rants with poor grammar. Not naming any names.
I'm with this guy. You could say its the 101 to forum post analysis.
HAHAHA hahahaha...

....I don't get it :(
Well if its of any consolation, I was wrong. So turns out I'm the only one being an asshole.

No, I've seen a lot of insightful posts - even threads - from members with low post counts, and while it's not nearly as common to see something poorly thought-out or irrelevant from a higher post count member...it does happen. And I think that person knows who they are. ^^

Hell, I certainly don't want to have any expectations placed on me, good or bad, based on how much time I waste.

No. For several reasons:
1. Post count doesn't contribute to the validity of a post. An idiot with 5000 posts is still an idiot.
2. A name, if anything, is something better to judge a post by, if you're familiar with the person and their viewpoints or behaviours; and I don't even really look at the name, either. I'm still only familiar with about three posters on this site.
3. Don't most high post counts come from user groups anyway?

Hehe I just hope I don't come of as annoying to you. I know I often have an ''controversial'' opinion on this forum, I don't blame you if you don't find that much thing in common with me.
Wait what why? No, no you don't. I mean I just said what I do, if I feel the need to say something, I usually proceed to do it. Having a lot of downtime at work while waiting for the automated stuff to complete so I can take over the next step helps too.

And there's nothing wrong with controversy, as long as its motivation is a good discussion.

Nah I don't judge people based on their post count. I judge them based on their snarkiness/smugness/passive aggressiveness.

Also speaking as someone with a low post count, when I see someone with an obscenely high count, if anything it puts me off a little. It's a numbers game and I always attribute it to the theory that if someone has 10,000+ posts, at leat 8,000 of them must be complete rubbish.

Thats not always true of course, but it doesn't seem that far from the truth.

Of course not. I do see post count as somewhat of a gauge of how much free time a person has, though.

Ironically, I'm posting on an old account that I registered a year before I joined "for real", and didn't even realize it existed until the other day. So much for post counts.
