My anthem has 4 frikkin languages, so no, I know some of it, but past paragraph one I'm a lost little mumbler.
That's the one. I only know the pledge.Skullkid4187 said:Oh say can you see, By the Dawns early light what so proudly we hailed Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh PLEASE, not Frans Bauer. Though it's not more worse then the Toppers.Jack_Uzi said:Oh come on now. You don't want to have Frans Bauer's "Heb je even voor mij?" do you?Hurr Durr Derp said:I only know the first part
Wilhelmus van Nassouwe
Ben ik van Duitsen bloed
Den vaderland getrouwe
Blijf ik tot in den dood
Een prinse van Oranje
Ben ik, vrij onverveerd
Den koning van Hispanje
Heb ik altijd geëerd
The lyrics make absolutely no sense at all in this day and age, but whatever.
I'm not much of a patriot. I like my country, but I don't think it's anything special just because I was born here.
*Edit: Maybe fun to know (no impoliteness intended towards you, Hurr Durr) but the word "Duits" is a degenerate of the word: "Diets" which gave us the name Dutch.
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of The United States of America, and to The Republic for which it stands One Nation Under God, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for All.feather240 said:That's the one. Now! What about the other three verses?Skullkid4187 said:Oh say can you see, By the Dawns early light what so proudly we hailed Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

They were cut cause they were a bit to offensive. So now we just use the first.Nechti_Visara said:Now! What about the other three verses?Skullkid4187 said:Oh say can you see, By the Dawns early light what so proudly we hailed Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

Seriously there are like five verses. It is ridiculous, nobody knows them.
I don't really buy that because they still exist, so they're still part of the national anthem. Buuuut they're definitely not acknowledged so who cares.Skullkid4187 said:They were cut cause they were a bit to offensive. So now we just use the first.Nechti_Visara said:Now! Twas offensive to the South, and the north feeling guilt for killing Innocent people and burning thousands of miles of land they said "lets cut it!"Nechti_Visara said:I don't really buy that because they still exist, so they're still part of the national anthem. (Offensive? They seem kind of badass to me. Like if we had kept them in elementary school mothers would be complaining that their kids were learning violent things in school.
Oh. That's why we cut them out.)
