Like Germany? I went on a trip to Berlin in Year 10 of school: We went to a Christmas market, went up the TV tower and spoke with a very cool bartender who spoke very good english, saw the Reich-stag which was impressive, we saw a very harrowing nazi camp where I think I had a minor spiritual experience, the Olympic stadium and a variety of other things.

Ich bin eine berliner

[HEADING=3]Fuck no.[/HEADING]

This is the country that single-handedly started the bloodiest war in the history of mankind and used the opportunity to commit atrocities that were so unimaginable that people had to see them with their own eyes to believe it.

And now they're one of the richest countries on the planet.

But hey! This was a long time ago and it was the Nazis who were dicks not Germans, right?

Wrong.

Hitler was a democratically elected leader and had massive public support. Also it wasn't that long ago, NSDAP members are still alive and make up a large portion of Germans. And I don't fucking buy this bullshit that they all abandoned their ideology the second Hitler was dead and now are very sorry and ashamed. I bet my ass that a large portion of them passed their beliefs onto the next generations, of course noone will admitt it.

Seriously, each time I see a retired German couple old enough to wave Swastika flags at parades driving their shiny new Audi limousine down the streets of my city which they helped raise to the ground I want to throw a fucking brick trough their windshield

Also Berlin is a sad city of sorry-ass people who have no idea how to have fun. And don't even get me started on German concert audience.
Im truly puzzeledby this. The germans these days are trying (and succeeding) in unbreeding themselves out of existence and even if an immigrant is the one flying german flag, theyll still tear it down: http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,703533,00.html

I dont want to even bother putting links here on how thoroughly german cities were bombed to bits. And then there was that fun bunch Red Army who are know for treating prisoners and civilians with rather loose ethics. Or the state people had to live in after the war.

And, last but not least, have you checked the diffrences between german map in 1910 what it is today? Whole lot of ground lost wouldnt you say? Germany has been raped up the butt, and whats left is so pitiable, I find myself wishing they'd just name it New Turkey and deport whatever remnants of german people are left to die in retirement houses in Austria.

OT: Nothing personally against them, but for above reasons, just talking about the country leaves a bad taste in my mouth. A dead nation that doesnt know its dead.

There should have been a "yes" answer. When somebody asks me if I like Germany I am not going to scream "Hell Yeah!" in their face. No offense, Germans. :)

Alright lets get a bit longwinded there.

First off, Tourists. You know, German Tourists. The German Tourist is basicly like a Animal you take out of its usual living space. Its confused, frightened and makes as much Noise as it can to scare off any potential Predator. Okay seriously, German Tourists behave badly most of the time i assume due to "Well we dont live here". Same can be said for alot of other Tourists.

Then we got the World Wars. I'd like to point out that Germany, contrary to popular Belief, did not start World War 1. Some Arch-Duke of Austria-Hungary got shot by some Serbian dude or something and shit hit the Fan quite literally. Germany was a Ally of Austria-Hungary so thats why they fought.
Second World War is a bit tougher there. For one, the "Führer" or Leader at the Time was actually Austrian, yet they never get any hate at all for Adolf being austrian, go figure that one out. Its told in History Class quite extensively, even in Classes which have nothing to do with History directly. And while this View is probably very controversial, that single time period of 6 Years has produced massive advances in Technology, Aeronautics and Medicine for example, in part sadly due to very horrible Methods.
Wonder if we were as far as we are in Medicine today without those Murderers and Warcriminals. Or went to the Moon as quickly as we did by adapting Rockets meant for destruction. The V2? Yeah thats the first Rocket. Messerschmidt ME262? First Plane using a Jet Turbine.

So thats two of the negative Points out of the Way first. Lets get to the good bits.
Great food, of quite a variety. Germans are literally assimilating other Culture's Food o_O
Great Music, from Classical over Metal to Techno and Industrial (AKA Goth Music)
Two big Events centered around Music, Wacken and the WGT (Wave Gothic Treffen)
Octoberfest, although thats mainly just cause you can drink, also great Beer.
Good Infrastructure, working Economy (we lost two World Wars and our Economy is better than America's, gotta think about that one)
Lots of famous People, alas sadly also some infamous ones.
People are generally nice, alas you got Idiots everywhere anyway

Could go on. Honestly its probably not the best Country in the world, but its far from being one of the worst. The History is mixed certainly and there are alot of bigger negative Events but really, which Country hasnt done similar Crap to some degree? America for pretending to be the moral Compass of the World has alot of negative Stuff under their Belt. Internment of japanese Citizens during WW2 for example, or the rather infamous dropping of two nuclear Bombs on Japan. How they stole and killed a good Amount of native Americans during the initial Settling of the land and so forth. Same goes for any Country.

They all got their History, not all of which is pretty. We learn from it and move on, trying not to repeat it. But i dont hold the History of a Country against its People, or hate that Country for some very stupid Mistake they made years ago.

That being said, im also German so go bugger :O

German ancestry again. Not to mention I greatly admire the German peoples. They made my favourite film (Das Boot, get it on DVD or something, its great). I seem to always have some family member stationed there.

My childhood best friend was German too. There's that whole German efficiency stereotype.

Germany is the reason that Bill Bailey can do kids songs and nursery rhymes in the style of Kraftwerk.

All in all, Germany's pretty cool.

I'm not from Germany, never been to Germany, don't know any Germans, don't listen to Rammstein.....so yeah. I can give credit when credit is due...but I have no particular reason to either like or dislike the country.

I don't love them and I don't hate them as a country on a whole. There are a few Germans I know that I hate but those are isolated "I hate this person because of who/what they are rather than because of their nationality" Though. I do plan on eventually learning German and traveling there.

Mao would like a word with you.

And now they're one of the richest countries on the planet.
Yes. How dare we earn the fruits of our labor in a stable economy?!

Hitler was a democratically elected leader and had massive public support.
Getting raped up the bum at Versailles certainly didn't help. Just pointing out that's the kind of thing that might frustrate an entire people into doing something horribly retarded. Anyway, most of his 'public support' after he seized power was due to his practice of having anyone speaking out against the regime 'inexplicably vanish'. And by that I mean brutally murdered for all to see.

Also it wasn't that long ago, NSDAP members are still alive and make up a large portion of Germans.
Any folks born at the end of the war would be 66 years old today. I must sadly call bullshit on your claims.

And I don't fucking buy this bullshit that they all abandoned their ideology the second Hitler was dead and now are very sorry and ashamed. I bet my ass that a large portion of them passed their beliefs onto the next generations, of course noone will admitt it.
Oh poop. You caught us. And here I thought I'd be able to keep torturing innocent Jews in my basement forever without needing to justify myself. (I really need to get myself that 'sarc mark' upgrade.)

The rest of your post(s) basically boils down to differences in taste in regard to food and social and fiscal envy.

I hope it felt good getting all that nonsense off your chest. Sometimes it helps just to vent, even if the grievances aired have just about nothing to do with the world we live in today. I, for one, will endeavour to think more often about the horrors committed by all participants of the World Wars, while I live out my comfortable life in the increasingly diverse, multicultural society of my country.

Meanwhile in Germany: Rain, thunder and sunshine all at the same time outdoors, Grimbold and beer indoors. I deem Germany quite likeable in these moments.

Eh,I dunno, I have never been there. I have met two people who are a good part German, one is quite nice, bright et cetera in my geography class, the other was a complete and utter moron, who lied and annoyed me. SO from those two I still can make no conclusions.

I don't, I will see someday maybe.

On my list of Top Five places to visit some day.

I'm not exactly fond of Angela Merkel's handling of the Euro crisis and her willingness to slap unfair blame on my country, Ireland, but then again, I hate Sarkozy with a passion and I'm relatively ok with the French.

The few Germans I've met have been cool people.
