One of my favourite artists is German.

http://www.youtube.com/embed/v_ocW0lp1_o (unfortunately I can't get this to embed for for reason, so you'll just have to settle for a link. Sorry.)

He does other great technology-based sculptures and "art machines". Every one of them is a load of fun and encourages physical interactivity, but also mental stimulation when you look into its deeper meaning.

This is one of his more famous examples.

Also:

Eisenfunk and Rammstein are fucking awesome!

Germans are generally nice and polite people. Their country is a bit boring though, unless you go near the mountains or the sea. Köln and Berlin are awesome cities, by the way.

Europe's largest inland port is in Duisburg and no one ever goes "Ah, those Germans and their ships...". XD
I think Düsseldorf is famous for making mustard, though. o_O
The important part to consider, though, is who cares about Dusseldorf and its mustard? :p

Captcha is asking how likely I am to go on a Norwegian cruise line... o_O I'm gonna say "no". Will keep you updated. Nope. No affect. THAT DEFEATS THE FUCKING POINT OF A CAPTCHA, DOESN'T IT, ESCAPIST?
I don't think anyone really cares for the longest piece of wood on which alcohol is served, so there. ;P

Somehow, those Captchas never seem to show funny things to me. I feel unloved. ;A;

Well I'm Dutch.
So no.

Just kidding, I have nothing against Germany or Germans except the way they speak.
I just don't like the language.

I prefer Austrian.

Quite a few mention the nazis and ww2, that was 66 years ago, perhaps it is time to let go and move on. Everyone involved in the crimes of that time is basicly either dead or dying, a person should not be responsible for the crimes of his forefathers or country.

On Topic: I love Germany, lovely engineering, great food, cool language, fantastic beer and nice party. Also Berlin is a wonderful city, you should check it out :)

Considering that the majority of my ancestors are from the fatherland I don't have a problem with them. I'm quite proud of my german heritage. Not to mention spetzle is a german recipe and boy-howdy do I love my spetzle.

That´s violent EXTREME RIGHT groups!

the difference:
left wing violence is beating up Neo Nazies and demonstrating against the nuclear power plant mafia and other goverment activities that cater to the lobbyists and not to the people.

right wing violence is burning down immmigration asylums and their inhabitants beating up homeless people and smearing Hakenkreuz-Symbols on jewish graveyards is their least crime.

Being a FASCHIST is not an attitude - it´s a crime.
wow, you're full of propaganda.
in the end, it doesn't matter, as both groups burn houses, cars, and everything else down that comes into their path.

on topic: being from germany myself, I think it's ok, politicians are weird but generally better than in the US. Although football is faaar to popular and sexist.
maybe I am a bit over the top of it but mixing or confusing left wing with right wing violence is totally ignorant of reality.
The left wing burn VACANT cars and house, while the right wing usually do that with still peaople inside. That´s a differnce.

right wing violence is BY FAR a more worse of a problem than left wing violence.
I guess I must have imagined the violent left-wing extremists a few years ago who attacked me in the street for having short hair (not bald, short!), or the ones who chucked molotov cocktails at a fucking police station. Oh well.
I don't care diddly about where the violence is coming from, extremism itself is the root of the problem. And we have no shortage of it on either side, don't try denying it.
I surely won´t deny that! Violence leads to more violence that´s always been the same.
And I never said the left wing extremist are harmless!
I am sorry for you, this I can say, honestly. But if some assholes want to beat up some one they always find a reason. No matter where they come from.

E.G. If you happen to be between the front lines. Like Mannheim. There is no "buffer zone" between the Turkish community and the Neo Nazie district, like a few kilometeres of city.
So there is always trouble. And people know that and know where better not to go.
This is sad if a city scape becomes like this. But such situation is true for a lot of German cities.

On a side course:
Did you know about the "happening" from Christoph Schlingensief where he organized a party in a infamous Policestation "Polizeiwache 11" in Kassel. This statin was know for how people where mistreated there. On that event Prisoners are talking aobut what happend there. Here is the link http://www.kunstlump.de/text.html

Although the Happening was very peacefully. For the homeless and underdogs finally had a forum where some one listend to them, finally. A peaceful ending to a dark piece of history.

I love Germany.

Honest people who have the ability to talk straight.
Yummy meaty food and great chocolate.
Long and varied history.
A clean and productive country.
Great economy.
Somewhat more liberal to smoking, drinking, and sex.
Crack down a lot harder than England when it comes to crime.
Cleanest water in the world, I've heard.
Never deny the atrocities of the past.

I just think it's a shame that 90 per cent of people hear Germany and go "LOLNAZIS" like it's a point-scoring system with their chosen country on top.

Yeah, I guess people looking for trouble will find ways to cause it. Point taken.
And yes, I actually know about the situation in Mannheim, as my grandparents live there. I don't have time to visit often anymore, but I've seen the aftermaths of a few violent altercations. Very unfortunate indeed, I agree. :(
There are many places in our country I haven't been to, but I'm happy to say this kind of crap has largely managed to stay out of my beautiful Kiel.

Regarding that 'Happening': Hadn't heard about it, but it sounds interesting. However, I'm not going to read that enormous wall of text in the link, sorry. ^^°

Well, considering the few Germans I know (probably not enough to make a judgement about an entire country), I haven't met one I didn't like.

Also, no-one told one of them not to mention the war. He's quite a laugh.
