I love to read! I don't get to read as often as I'd like to though, not enough time. I do find plenty of time to read during bus rides. I'm currently (kinda) reading 3 books for pleasure.

General rule for me though is this: I dislike fiction books. There are exceptions of course, but that's just in general.

I like non-fiction more most of the time.
Wait, you enjoy non-fiction, but rarely fiction? That's seems a bit odd. I like non-fiction because, as the poll says, knowledge is power, but I couldn't see reading them just for pleasure.

Yep, that's it. I need certain criteria checked-off, (and I haven't actually figured out what said criteria is...), in order to enjoy a fiction book.

Non-fiction, on the other hand, has practical applications. While it can be boring, I read on topics that interest me, and therefore it isn't boring.

I'd rather watch a mediocre show or play a mediocre game than read a fantastic book, tbh.
Wait...what?
I like to discuss a show or a game, or even a book...And with books, it's hard to discuss books with anyone, since most everyone I know doesn't read.

So, I'll only read wildly popular books that pique my interest, and sadly...that hasn't happened since Harry Potter years ago.
*makes a waving gesture* We're here for you too! Plenty of books getting discussed here, review them if you like. Lots of book suggestion threads and all that, popular things all around like Terry Pratchett and Jim Butcher.

It's sad though, while I get that that ain't fun (like discussing the movie with your friends after visiting the cinema is half the fun sometimes), don't you play, watch and read for your own enjoyment first? The really popular ones are often not even the best books, you're missing out.

Ah, makes sense I guess. Yeah I reckon it's kinda hard deciding which fiction books you like if you don't know what you like.

By the way, who's the charming lass in your avatar?

Yes. Also, audiobooks. Especially if the writer tells them (íf he can, not every writer is a storyteller). Started it when I had trouble concentrating for a long time. Subtle nuances can be put in and also you're kind of forced to listen to every word, as everyone skips certain words and passages without noticing when reading.

About your friend, when I had to make my list for school, I noticed I was the only one who had read his whole list, as opposed to synopses or w/e. Most of them hadn't even read that number of books in their life (14, at the age of 18). This was the highest high school level, btw.

It's a bit about keeping up appearences. I think a lot of people are interested, but don't have/take time to read books, except for maybe holidays, and they don't like to acknowledge that. Hence the awkward moments on house parties when people talk about books neither of them read.

Reading can be fun! I like to read, but only the good books. Like Harry Potter, and to some extent LOTR. (a bit tl;dr)
I hate reading for school though

Never enjoyed a book I've been made to read (Well, maybe To Kill A Mocking Bird), but yeah, big fan of reading. Have several times lost a nights sleep because a book was more interesting.

But that top voting option is a little over the top...

I like books but for some reason if I feel like I have to read it it ruins it for me.

Reading is my top hobby. Video games can take more of my time but reading is always there as a fall back. The poll options are a little meh btw. Three are no or not really options and one is a bit too strong for the average person.

I love reading. Fiction, mainly; I prefer to read non-fiction on the internet.

One of my favourite pastimes.

Reading Books > Reading on a computer

Seriously I can never concentrate much on reading stuff on a screen. Or on reading textbooks but thats par for the course.

But fiction books - love reading 'em.

I joke with people that I have a mini library in my house, and that's no overstatement either. I absolutely love reading and I can go through a book in a day if I really wanted to.
