Why do you make your bed? Do you make your bed?

To many of you it will seem to be second nature to make the bed - but why?

I mean unless you have a girlfriend or friend's over (vice versa) - and even then - who walks into a house, goes into a person's bedroom and then goes "I care that you forgot to make your bed!"? No one I know would.

Now changing the sheets that is something I understand. But realistically a bed is for sleeping and most people sleep every night - and that means making the sheets not all formulated and tucked in. Essentially you spend time making a bed and then unmaking a bed to use it.

It is hardly like the fact, that if you don't make the bed this somehow magically makes the bed unsleepable the next time someone does sleep in it - I can attest to that.

So yes...Why do you make your bed? If so please explain why you do so. If you don't make the bed - what are your reason's behind your decision.

Personally I don't see much use for this old fashioned tradition

I make it because it feels better to get into a made bed.

That's it really. And the room looks neater, so your mood is boosted a little.

Sometimes, and when I do I don't make it perfect just throw my quilt on my bed so it's flat.

In the immortal words of Jim Gaffigan "Making your bed is like tying your shoes when you take them off."

So, no I don't make my bed.

I always make my bed. Mainly because I like to lie on it during the day so having it unmade is uncomfortable.

I make it before I go to sleep, so that it's prepped for me how I like it. I leave it open during the day, so that the air cools it down.

I change the sheets when they get a little funky or when I've had sex on them, whichever comes first. As for making the bed? Complete waste of time. I live alone. Nobody's going to see that bed but me and I don't care whether it's made or not.

I don't make my bed.

Since I get irrationally hot at night, I only use the quilt anyway and tend to sleep on the sheets rather than under them.

I love jumping into my never-made bed. It's like jumping into a writhing mass of comfy sheet tentacles.

i don't. why make it up again if it's just going to get messy when i crash into it later?
i change the sheets on wash day (saturday), and that's the most orderly it will ever get.

It's either "make the bed every day" or "find a new place to live."

Not that drastic, but my parents want me to make my bed and so I do.

Yes, I make my bed every night. I can't stand sleeping in a disgruntled bed.

All of the blankets have to be strait, the sheets can't have too many crinkles, my pillows must be perfectly fluffed, and while watching movies on my iPod my head must be perfectly balanced on one of the boards of the bed.

I guess I have OCD when it comes to my bed.

I don't make my bed for the same reason I don't re-tie my shoes after I take them off, I plan on using it again very soon-Jim Gaffigan

Yea I agree with this completely I don't consider someone who judges me based on whether or not I make my bed a friend.
