This poll is biased.

Well you could always try a current game with classic graphics and see what that's like;

I think that makes a point. People won't admit it but graphics do matter. It's just that you can't judge old games by todays standards. If you look back at most of the 'classics' mentioned by those in this thread they all had decent to good graphics at the time they came out.

It's obviously not the most important part though.

'Course not.
I can enjoy watching a black motherfucking monitor all day.

... well, as long as there's some good music playing.

It definitely makes the game more enjoyable to play, but you don't strictly need them. I just bought the original Halo which looks terrible now compared to current gen stuff, and it remains as fun as ever despite the shocking graphical quality. You just learn to look past things like that.

Graphics are nice as long as they are not the no1,top priority to play a game.Personally,I don't care very much about graphics cause when I started playing games, the only thing you saw was pixels, but it was great and still is!!!

Well, while I did enjoy playing Diablo 2 today, and Megaman Battle Network 5 on the DS... I couldn't, simply couldn't play Megaman BN 3 on my GBA. Sprites too big, characters too large, graphics too blurred out... sure combat looks pretty much the same, but I got spoiled by the DS version.

Also the touch screen is awesome to manage the chip folder.

I can still play my old ps1 games, i just prefer current-gen graphics. the most important aspect of a game is its entertainment value, not its pixel count.

Even text adventure games can create a great atmosphere so no graphics needed. Although if I buy a game, I usually check the graphics too... But graphics are not "the thing" in games. Except in Crysis.

it depends, the classics... they're just classics but you wouldn't buy a new game pixalated as mario soooo it goes both ways
What about mega man 9 and 10? I suppose that's slightly different though.
I Think graphics are the most important thing in a game because without them I couldn't see what I was doing, I know the jokes been done.

if i don't like what i see, i don't really want to play it.
* 'good' =/= high-tech, some of the old SNES mario games have 'good' graphics, as opposed to advanced/ high-tech.
several UE3 games have 'bad' graphics as far as i am concerned.

I play games for entertainment. Good graphics or not, as long as it's good. (Though in my humble opinion, Games today tend to focus too much on graphics over entertainment)

Graphics are not everything. Some of the best games are the simplest. Then again, I doubt any person would play through Crysis if it was built on the original Unreal engine.

Graphics are marginally important, they do impact a game's lasting appeal or impression, but they certaintly do not make a game better in any way, that's why I hate it when games lke Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 are praised too highly because of graphics.

Yes. As much as people pretend to be above all those graphics whores, graphics are important. Obviously not as important as gameplay or story but still pretty damn important.
This. While graphics don't play a huge part in my enjoyment of video games, it sure as hell helps when a game looks as good as MGS4 or Uncharted.

Think of games like the Conduit. That game was...eh okay, I guess, but the graphics were downright terrible and they said it would look just as good as Uncharted.

Really? Lets compare:

This is Uncharted:

and this is The Conduit:

See the difference? It looks like a fucking N64 game. The Conduit looks fucking terrible and it brings down the quality of the game.
