So given the approaching generation of consoles, do you actually plan to buy any of them?

Personally, I think I will be completing the transition to exclusively PC gaming and give all of the next generation of consoles a miss. For me it just doesn't seem worth it owning both a PC and a console, given that I am willing to treat my PC to the maintenance required and that PC games seem to be a lot cheaper than console games, at least in Australia. Unless the next Xbox or Playstation pulls a really unmissable exclusive out of their asses, I can safely say I won't be buying consoles in the future, apart from maybe something from Nintendo. (I'm a huge fan of the DS) Keep in mind I am not saying that PC is better than consoles, consoles are great in their own right, but a PC seems to fit my particular circumstances better.

In regards to the Ouya, unfortunately I couldn't fit it in the poll. I am not particularly interested in it myself.

Depends on exclusives whether I stick with just my PC or buy the next Xbox. I'm definitely not buying Wii2 or PS4 though.

Haven't owned a console since the PS1 so... no, probably not. I've been PC exclusive for the past decade and it's served me fine :)

I can't say for sure until they are actually out and we get to see prices, exclusives, support, etc.

However, if history continues on, I expect that I will purchase either a 720 or PS4 first (within one year of launch) and eventually get the one that I did not purchase later down the line.

I do not intend to get a Wii U. I see it as the Wii 2.0 (aka the thing that sits in my closet not being used because one game that is worth it comes out every year).

Probably none, as I'll most likely just switch over completely to PC gaming for the next generation. If Sony keeps up their good track record of funding unique, innovative indie games (like what they've done with all of Thatgamecompany's games), then I might put some serious consideration into getting the PS4, but I'd have to wait a while into the console's lifespan to be sure.

I may get a Wii U since I never had a Wii and want to catch up on a few Nintendo games. Other than that... I kinda want to know what games there will be before I decide. Cuz, you know, the games are the important part.

I'll be sticking with the PC. I'll probably upgrade once all three are out and I know what sort of specs are going to be used as the baseline for the next decade or so of video games.

That said, I'm open to the idea of buying one of the consoles... although all of the "media center" and "social gaming" bullshit that seems to be a big selling point this coming generation has zero value to me. It's going to come down entirely to whether or not there are enough interesting-looking exclusive to justify the price tag - and even then, I'll likely just wait until the prices on the systems and interesting-looking exclusives drop.

Admittedly though, even disregarding the price and number of releases, I sure as hell wouldn't buy into any of the three on release. The failure rates on the first wave of X-Box 360s and PS3s were hilariously bad. Wouldn't know about the Wii though... I wasn't working for an electronics store at the time that was released, and never really cared enough to look into it.

I'm number one; I'm number one.

Anyways, if this generation taught me anything: don't get a new system 'till a year or two later.

I'll almost certainly have at least one of them. Which one depends on the games and whether some of the less encouraging rumours (for example not being able to play used games) are true of not.

By the time they come out I'll probably have a kickass PC but I'll still get a PS4 for exclusives.

Whichever one comes WITHOUT always-online DRM (or anti-used games DRM). Oh how I wish that the rumors aren't true.

Depends entirely on which console, if any, manages to offer enough games that I want to justify the buying price.

Pretty simple really.

Microsoft and Nintendo

Nintendo cuz I've been doing it since the N64.

And Microsoft because I like Halo, also I'm apparently the devil for thinking they are not evil and are helping this medium.

As long as Nintendo keeps making Zelda Ill keep throwing money at them. Though I won't buy until they actually make a Zelda game for the WII U. Same thing for the 3DS, but they going to need to try extra hard since they derped and only put 1 control stick on it.

None. Instead of dropping $400+ on a console, I'm just going to buy I high end graphics card. Going to be exclusively PC gaming.
