Seeing as how I hate using a PC, I'll stick with the fun I've had with Sony. Backward compatibility with PS3 games would be appreciated, but naive to expect.

Not wasting my time with Nintendo again, that's for sure.

Noticing a lot of people just saying 'fuck it' though and moving to PC's, don't know how you stand all the DRM and shit. Seeing as how Im with an Indie Company that specialises in PC (cheaper than any other area) just means more business for me. Then I can forfil my lifes dream of owning a gold Yaht... with tank treds so I can spit on all the poor people as I drive by, fnar, fnar, fnar.

By the time they come out I'll probably have a kickass PC but I'll still get a PS4 for exclusives.
About this. I have a kickass card and fear DX 12 whenever it comes out. But I can't imagine not having played the Uncharted series.

Sony has me!

I'll likely get a 720 if they kill the 360 like the original Xbox.

Yes... eventually. I've got a lot more games and mileage to put on my 360 and PS3. Plus, I'll wait until they go down in price and find the one with the majority of games that interest me most.

Microsoft and Nintendo

Nintendo cuz I've been doing it since the N64.

And Microsoft because I like Halo, also I'm apparently the devil for thinking they are not evil and are helping this medium.
do not let them get to you a lot of guys on here are haters or hardcore pc guys who think anyone who are not pc gamers are 14 year old cod kids

Not really interested in the upcoming generation, I held off on this generation for a long time and when I finally bought for the exclusives it really didn't feel like it was worth it because the buy in cost is just way too much.
Going to stick with my PC, if that means I miss the exclusives, oh well.

If any, the Ouya will be the only console I am considering. PS4 is dead in the water if they go through with their non-backwards compatable, you-can't-use-used-game ideas. The XBox...well, I just don't like their track record with console design, nor XBox live, nor advertising mentality, and many of their games end up on the PC, only better, so they are out.

I'll stick with the older games I have. I still haven't played many of them, and they are still great. Plus I won't get as pissed off when a new release shits on an old franchise, or when a developer makes a game "more accessible" (ie. for stupid people).

Probably just the PS4 and Xbox InsertWeirdGimmickHere because the Wii turned into a overpriced paperweight and I don't need another one.

Maybe a PS4, possibly a 720, definitely not a Wii U. And that all depends on the games, really. Stuff like Ratchet and Clank is a guaranteed system buy for me, but I'm not sure if it's moving into the next generation. The games I like are either cross platform (Assassin's Creed) or Sony exclusives (inFamous or Ratchet & Clank), so I don't see myself needing a 720. As for the Wii U? the Wii barely interested me, and it's successor is doing the same thing, so I'm not gonna waste my money on it. I'm not much of a PC gamer (being a heathen Apple user), but now that I've got Parallels and Windows 7 I can play PC games and such.

I'm actually slightly bummed by it all, that I have no energy or drive for this next generation, that none of these companies that have provided me so much joy and entertainment seem to know what in the bloody hell they're doing. Ah well, it means I can spend my loose money on Legos or stuff like that.

MAYBE the Wii U. Just maybe. I'm going to have to see some awesome shit on it first that I can't live without. MS and Sony are so far gone that I wouldn't get one if it gave me blowjobs every time I turned it on.

Saying that I won't come into possession of all the next-gen consoles within said generation is like saying that I don't use the internet for porn, in that it is a blatant lie.

Currently, I consider myself a PC gamer. However, as both a collector and aficionado of digital media, I want to experience all manner of gaming mediums at their height, and as a result I must purchase consoles as they become available to me.

In a word, yes.

Not right away. I won't buy anything until there's games I want to play on it, possibly even waiting for the (now) inevitable hardware revision/fix that most current gen suffered from, MS more than the others. I'd also prefer to wait and see if they get cracked for homebrew purposes and if there's any modding scene.

I bought the original XBox initially so I could mod it and run Xbox Media Player (now Center). I still use it in my living room, effectively as a HTPC with XBMC to play divx/xvid from the internet I store on my NAS. I believe the PS3 can do this out of the box (not to mention when OtherOS was an inclusive feature) but already had the 360 before Sony turned up to the current-gen party 2 years late.

If I do buy the next one, I'd really want blu-ray and network media features, or a modchip/softmod to add that (latter) functionality as I CBA with a separate HTPC. Hmmm...I guess I really ought to give the PS3 a chance ;-) I'm tempted to buy one of the older ones second-hand, that are backward compatible with PS2 games (which I still have a few of).

Oh and before anyone starts throwing around words like "illegal" or "piracy", modding is legal in the UK (DMCA is USA only) and I'm talking about homebrew, not piracy.

With the way that major gaming companies like Sony, MS, Valve, Nintendo, EA have been treating their customers and the industry, as well as the damage gamers have done over the last few years I find it really really hard to have any desire to support any of them financially.

I WANT to continue to be a gamer, but honestly between other gamers and these companies, it is making it unbelievably hard to do so.

At least on the upside, I will never be "finished" with minecraft, so at least there is that.

It depends on microsoft's attitude towards used games. If it's reasonable, I prefer the MS controller and games library, so I'll probably go for that. If not, I'll just stick to PC gaming.

It's too early for this kind of decision, as the new Xbox and Playstation have not even been announced yet (wait until E3 2013?)
Fall 2013 is pretty much the best time for the question, as the WiiU will not really be out by then.

Nevertheless, I doubt any new thing the big (and upcoming) hardware companies will bring out in the next few years will entice me. I might get a PS3 for where I might live after college.

Depends on a few bits, first is release date.
If they say its gonna be ready a year from now, i wont buy it till a few years in.
2nd is what it has which the current one doesnt, the next gen microsoft console should imo fill a niche, and allow games for windows to be played from it as well as XB720.
Kinect as standard, hopefully with everyone able to use it, game devs will try and use it for more than a gimmick.
And it has to a long long life on it, the original xbox had 4 years before the 360 came along, and the 360 is sitting on 7 already, so the next should last just as long on the market, but more importantly, just as long without breaking.

Might pick up the next Xbox to play those old exclusive games. I don't like the business or the console, but Gears of War and Halo are fun franchises.

I'll probably get the Wii U eventually as I'm a sucker for Nintendo, even if they are kind of cruel to me every now and again. I preferred the 360 to the PS3 this gen, and neither of which really hold my interest anymore. Optimally, I'll just make the jump to PC and get my console exclusives for the Wii U. I already play a lot of PC games and have already started picking up games for PC here and there, it's just a matter of bringing my PC up to speed and upgrading it.

only one that sounds interesting is Nintendo's, which is the only one announced, but i really doubt the PS4 or Xbobx 720 will be much different then they are now, unless you count better hard ware from rendering polygons 'innovative', which i do not
