If I have the money I'll buy a new console if they come out in a few years down the road. other than that I am pretty close to going back to all PC gaming.

Probably all after a while, but most likely I will be getting the PS4 and Wiiu before I get the next Xbox.

If anything, I'll probably buy the next Xbox. Although, considering how little we've actually heard about Sony and Microsoft's next consoles, I might end up not buying any of the new consoles.

I have yet to decide. If I do decide to buy one or more I assure you it won't be until after the first price drop at the earliest. That way I get access to a greater library of games and get the machine for less.

I'll get whatever has the best games, even if it takes a few years for the console to get a good library to make it worth purchasing. I'll get all 3 if they all have different libraries, but if it's like this gen where two have the exact same games I'll get whatever has the better controller and interface.

We'll have to see what the future does indeed have in store for the next generation of consoles. From where I am standing right now, it's likely I won?t be bothering with any console other than Wii U in pursuit of Rayman 2, Yeah that's right! Fuckin Ubisoft...

Probably MS and Sony. But if the worst of the rumors turn out to be true, I'll just stick to my PC. And possibly an Ouya if it turns out to be real.

Probably not; the console developers seem to be pretty half assed about what they do now.
MS had a pretty good setup but their hardware had a failure rate that I'm astonished they were able to get away with for so long. Paying for online (then paying more halfway through the generation) also turns me off.
Sony had some good hardware but it's unfortunate they didn't want to give it decent firmware support. We've also seen some of the worst ports of all time on the ps3.
Nintendo tries hard but they seem to be a gen behind on processing power so you know a lot of the big games aren't going to be available there.

If they're not even going to try, I'm not going to buy.

I too would have to say that the Android console might be the only one I get next gen.

You have made some great points that I would like to expand on.

MS: paying more for xbl halfway through the generation to pay for all the ads and bloatware they decided to put on the dashboard. To the point where games are on the upper left corner in a small box (almost symbolic of their priorities).
Sony: Got worse as the generation progressed by taking away functionality of the Ps3, pissing off gamers with firmware and the famous PSN outage, and generally being dicks.
Nintendo: Got very lazy in the last 4 years and pretty much let the wii stagnate to a laughable degree.

As you have said they basically are not trying anymore.

Depends.

If I have to hazard a guess, it'd be "whichever console that goes back to using ROMs."
'cos if movies on a 4K TV requires some 400 megabit bitrate, blu-ray is not going to be fast enough.
Maybe just using USB 3. That's got sufficient data rate.

Also, it'd be really cool to be able to store hundreds of games in a drawer.
'cos that's seriously the best feature of nintendo handhelds.

Don't even tell me if the consoles aren't going to support 4K.
They'd all be underpowered on launch of they don't.

Nope. Didn't buy an XBox 360 or PS3 in this generation, ever, so not going to get the next generation either. Sticking to the PC.

the last console i bought was a ps2 and i still use it. consoles now and next gen especially have managed to self defeat the entire purpose of having a console for me. i love the ps2 for a very simple reason. when i have a few minutes i can sit down slap a disk in and ta da no mucking around it just works and i can play my game. if i have to muck around with online, downloading patches installing things then id rather just use my pc
This.

Unless I can get them for free, yep. I may play primarily on my PC now-a-days but I still own consoles for certain games. (course if exclusives went away... I dunno)

I will not be buying any of them.

I've had fun with gaming, dont get me wrong. It has, however, been a brief flirtation for me, and it is rapidly getting stale. I could blame EA, or Microsoft, or gamers in general, but in reality, the blame lies with myself. I dove off the deep end, burned myself out, and frankly, getting a little old for it now anyways.

So yeah, I can quite safely say that Tomb Raider will be the last game I buy. Kinda fitting, since it was the original Tomb Raider that get me intrested in vidja games anyway.

I'm not too sure at the moment. I will wait a while and see what games they are going to be bringing out. I never got into PC gaming, never had my own PC that was good enough for gaming. I was never allowed to put games on the family PC. I am very doubtful of the WiiU, I will probably be giving that one a miss.

I have all three consoles right now, and a decent gaming PC. I don't know about the next generation of consoles. There's nothing to entice me to buy a Wii U right now, and there's not enough information about the next Microsoft and Sony offerings.

I have been more PC centric the past few years, but I'll need a console for Jap RPGs like the Persona and Disgaea series.

Depends if any of these anti-consumer rumors are true.

Anti-used game system,
Digital only distribution,
Broken, half-made, games still asking for full price,
Always online DRM,
etc

I refuse to be treated like shit by retards like EA/Ubisoft.
When pirating a game is more convenient then buying a game, I'll just ignore it completely.

Gaming, to me, is a HOBBY...not a lifestyle.

If Nintendo EVER releases Pokemon Snap 2, then I will buy the WiiU.

I will probably buy the new Sony one, but not straight away.

Whats so next gen about them? As far as I know (which isn't much on this topic) they aren't that much different from what we have now.

Maybe. It'll all depend on the games.

What I'm not going to do is buy any console at launch. I did that this generation and while I don't regret any purchase, I did severely dislike having a brand new console that didn't have any worthwhile games on it yet.
