Yes. I am a human, therefore I play human.

I am also a muscleless spaz, so I play archer/rogue.

Apparently so. At least in Dragon Age II.

Whenever I'm given the option to play as anything else, I will. I don't know why, maybe I'm secretly an alien out to destroy humanity.

In Oblivion, I'm a High Elf, Dark Elf, or Orc. In Dragon Age, I played an Elf and later a Dwarf. If given the option in Mass Effect, I'd probably play an Asari or Turian. Hell, I even played as a Sangheili in Halo 2 and 3.

It just makes me angry that in DA:O, EVERY human, save Alistair, Duncan, and Leliana, was an asshole. Now, with this defining characteristic in place, I have to play one. It isn't even like the voices for Humans, Elves, and Dwarves were that distinct, anyway. They could have gotten away with one voice for males, one for females, and then choosing your own race.

It depends, but not on the stats. I generally like the alien race better than the human's, because it's different and cool. If it's not that cool, I might just stick to the humans.

In oblivion, I choose Dark Elf or Imperial. In D&D (or at least D&D video games), I pick either half-elf or Drow. Yes, I -know- the Drow are incredibly overused, but by God, I don't care. They're awesome anyway.

No, I normally play as an Elf. Elves are cool. Humans are just boring when given the option to play as a different race.

I nearly always play as human. The rallying cry from the servants of the God-Emperor himself have made it quite clear what stance is to be taken towards non-humans:

KILL THE MUTANT!
BURN THE HERETIC!
PURGE THE UNCLEAN!

In most fantasy-based games I tend to gravitate toward elves and dwarves whenever possible (depending on just what sort of game it is and whether magic or hack-and-slash is favored). I have no particular bias against humans, but why play as something conventional when the whole point of fantasy is to have...well, fantasy creatures/races?

Humans are lowly filth that inhabit the lowliest places in existence.

I kid really but typically in games where I can be a non human I leap at the opportunity. I am an Argonian in Oblivion and a proud Sangheili in Halo 3 multiplayer.

That said if I have to be human I can deal with it.

I'm normally an elf. In Oblivion I played a Nord Warrior and a Dark Elf marksman.

And in WoW I don't have a single character that's a Human.

I never really thought that Elites were any better than Spartans though, so I tend to play Spartans in Halo.

I generally start as the race/character closest to myself before going on to experiment with the others. It all just goes back to the "relatable character" concept in fiction. It's why both Starcrafts start with the Terran campaign, and why almost all sci-fi games incorporate humans, however unrealistic their expectations.

So yes, human it is.

There are times when there are elves or some other human-ish race more relatable than the that of the humans in the game, and in those cases I choose them.

Usually in every game I play I will start a toon that is a non human but I always end up with a human character that is my "main"

I put depends but really it more depends on how I feel.

Also, on whether I'm playing a game that lets me pick a different race...

For example in Dragon Age: Origins I'm currently playing a City Elf Female, which is fun, but I'll pretty much go through all the races at least once. Maybe not dwarves though, I have no desire to plat as a dwarf.

It honestly depends which species has the bigger rack... but from experience I play as many different species in one game just to get the perspective...
