I am female, I play videogames (arguably way too much) and I would prefer not to be referred to as a "girl". I'm a few days short of 23, if anything, I'm a woman.

My sister also plays, though not to the same extent, and she limits herself to only a few games. I wish I could get her to play Mortal Kombat or Pokémon with me, but that's just never going to happen.

Also people need to stop acting like female gamers are bloody unicorns. They're really not that rare or magical, though I guess they do only show themselves to virgins.
<color=white>I REALLY FUCKING HOPE YOU CAN TELL THAT WAS A (BAD) JOKE, THERE IS NO NEED TO INFORM ME OF YOUR SEXUAL PROWESS.
Wicked response. If I could give you XP for that I would.

I'm a girl, but I just realized I only game with guys. None of my girl friends even touch games unless it's on their phone or something.
Me too, but I don't have many girlfriends so I guess that would make sense.

Other than my niece who likes games like dance central and a friend who will play RPG's and party games I don't know other girl gamers.

Considering how many girls go online and pretend to be guys to avoid the hassle I'm sure there are more than most people figure. I play a fair bit of Halo and even some, dare I say it, Call of Duty with the old ball and chain and I just get annoyed of girls who get online and scream about how they are girls and giggle and crap. I won't deny the fact that I'm a girl, my screen name is my x box avatar so I guess its pretty obvious, but I don't like people who rub their gender into another persons face.

The fiancé and I play games together. :) And I do have female friends who play games and sometimes will play with them. I prefer to play with my babe, though. :3

OHMYGOD, DID YOU GUYS GET TO TOUCH HER AY ANY POINT?! WAS IT WEIRD?! DO THEY ALL SMELL LIKE PEARS?!

Seriously, this is how this topic comes off. Besides, a lot of girls play video games; they just don't think it's the huge deal you do, at least until they see you jumping up and down like a howler monkey about it, which may be why a lot of them keep to themselves, come to think of it.

Most will at least try one if presented with one she thinks might be interesting, either way, and while it may not necessarily be the one you're playing, it'd probably still surprise you where her interests lie.

I love multiplayer games, but I only know a few girls who would play video games with me.

If I encounter a girl online, I usually think "hey that's neat", and keep playing.

If it's something more long-term, like an online RPG, I'll try very hard to make sure those I'm playing with aren't the typical horny males online to her. I like it when girls play these kinds of games, and I don't want some guys to scare her off.

I play games with my wife. Anything that has a co-op campaign or split-screen multiplayer we play together (eg: Borderlands, Halo, Modern Warfare 3). If something is single player we usually don't mind taking turns playing and watching.

So inasmuch as it's possible to play together, we do.

Do I encounter female gamers online? Yes. Is it a big deal? No.

Used to play L4D with a couple of women, among others.

That was good fun.
Yep that and L4D2. I think the close-knit teamwork aspect is the main draw for both titles, but not being a girl, I can't confirm that.

Me and my girlfriend play co-op games together. She also likes Red Dead Redemption. Just bought her the GOTY edition, so she'll be happy.

Yeah, me and my girlfriend have played a handful of MMOs together, until we got bored and moved on. She also plays CSS and L4D2 with me and we completed the zak and wiki games together.

Other than my girlfriend, i play WoW with a couple of lasses from the societies i'm in at university and i used to play halo a lot with a female friend or two.

I'd be happy to play game with anyone besides my younger brother, who isn't into the same games as I am. I need more friends.

I actually have a good number of female friends that play games. One is more into COD and other shooters, one I've played a few MMOs with, another was a big fan of the Soul Caliber series (before we both agreed that it's become a bit shit lately) but she's mostly into the elder scrolls and other RPGs. I could go on and on but then the post will be TL;DR

One thing I've found is that when you are simply looking for a few friends to game with, a number of them will be of the female variety. Also, if you see them as some mythical creature that you'll never find, chances are that you'll drive them away if you ever meet any.

A life long friend of mine and I grew up playing video games together (and apart) and he's coming into town this upcoming week on vacation which means 2 days of sitting on the couch with controllers and a bucket of nostalgia :) I also play games regularly with my fiancé in multiple forms - me playing him watching, him playing me watching, and local co-op. I have trouble thinking of things to do with friends who don't play video games! Besides drink and talk I suppose.

My sist6er mainly, she recently got the Humble Bundle V and we chatted a bit about Bastion and the endings. (It helps that my sister is a bit of a tomboy who's into programming.)

Well I play online regularly so that makes it a yes.
But people around me... unless I descend into the filth of facebook spamming gaming there isn't much opportunity, the few that got really into gaming with me turned out not really being in it for the games.

I used to play tons of gears of war multiplayer with my best friend back in like, 2007, we had an absolute blast trolling people. We're both females, though.
