Poll: Do you say soda, coke, or pop?

I call it pop, and I'm from Southern Ontario (in Canada). I'd change the end part, seeing as many people here aren't from the US.

yeah same, but I'm in Northern Ontario. It's pop since it can mean all kinds of soft drinks, I barely drink Coke so...

I use either Soda or Coke. I refuse to request a "Pop" or "Cola"

It'd be weird to call non-colas coke. It'd be to vague to call a specific drink pop or soda.

Colas are coke. It's rum and coke, not rum and Pepsi. Anything else fizzy I call pop.

Basically he is referring to the way people who are hanging out together refer to all sodas.

"Want to go get a pop?" "Want to go get a Soda?" or "Want to go get a Coke?"

Almost all of my friends called it Coke, even when they were getting 7-Up. That was in the South West. All throughout the mid-west (Up north and down south) people call it Pop. Texas or Michigan, it doesn't matter. I remember that in Maine they used to call it Pop as well...

Really? Like I said in my earlier post, I and everyone else I know says "soda", and I live in Maine. That seems to generally be the case for the North-East US as a whole.

In California it's usually 'Pepsi', 'Coke', or 'Soda'.

In fairness i call it what its called. If its coke i call it "coke", Fanta is "fanta" and so forth.

Same. Also true for most people I know.

The Aussies tell it like it is. Agreed.

The only universal terms allowed here is "Beer" or "BBQ".

I try to say Elixir or Tonic as much as possible.

Otherwise I say pop.

Well--I call most things by their proper names but if I'm just speaking in general terms ("Oh, yeah, I'd like pop. what kinds do you have?") Then I say 'pop'.

Soda or soft drinks, if I don't just use the brand name. Living in AZ, but my dad is from upstate New York.
