I smoke and I'm proud of it. I get so sick and tired of those of you who treat me like I have the plague, just because I enjoy my habit. Its people like you who cause the rest of us to have to stand outside to have a quick smoke in the freezing rain. GROW UP! If you don't like the smell of smoke or what ever, don't go around those places where smoking is allowed, don't try to change the laws, because you're uncomfortable.
Grow up? You're the one blowing toxics into our faces. You're the drug addict here (yes, nicotine is one hell of a drug), now we're not asking you to stop (by all means, same with weed, if you want to get high, go ahead, I'm all for legalisation), but just asking to not shove your addiction into our nostrils. Why do some smokers have to light one up in on a packed railway or bus platform while loads of people are standing right next, for and behind them. Is it so hard to do it in your own backyard or home. Why bother other people with it?
^this, I can't belive I have to ride from houston to dallas with my two grendparents who smoke a cig every two minutes

i tried it once. But then someone told me that I had to inhale the smoke from the cigarette and when I did I nearly coughed up a lung. I'll never do it again.

No. I don't smoke. I find it to be a disgusting habit. I also couldn't date anyone who smokes.

I don't smoke though unlike alot of nonsmokers I have no problem with people that do. As for those of you that talk about the risks, I personally know 4 people who are in their 80s who have been smoking since their 20s and they are in decent shape as far as people who are way too fucking old go. Sure theres that whole lung cancer bit that some people get then theres the throat hole thing, but it doesn't happen to everyone. From what I have seen all of the "bad stuff" that can happen when you smoke is actually pretty rare... unless your body fails at resistance to any harmful influences. Though I did come up with a fairly accurate way to test this: Do you get sick more than once every few months? If so smoking is not for you. This is only supported by the fact that those old poeople I mentioned get sick mabey once a year while the few people I've seen who were largely affected by smoking were sick every other week. Feel free to ridicule this all you want, but it seems to be the way to tell.
I'm sorry but that's complete and utter BS.

64% of the people who smoke die from smoking-related diseases.

So no, dying from smoking is in no way shape or form rare.

Never have, never will I mean seriously what's the point? I've never heard of getting any kind of high from it I'm probably more likely to smoke weed than a cigarette to be honest.

My religion forbids smoking (three guesses as to which church i go to), but even now when I'm thinking more about my decisions instead of just doing stuff because I'm told to, I still wouldn't smoke. It's bad for you, its expensive, and it makes you smell DISGUSTING.
To be honest, I've never heard of an actual church that forbids smoking. Which one is it?

(I have a feeling I'll feel like an idiot and it'll be fairly obvious after hearing the answer XD)
I see an epic flaming coming my way, but I belong to "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". Or Mormons, you might know us as.

Please, nobody flame me. I'm too young!
Don't you guys believe that everyone can become a god?

The simple truth of the matter is this; because of the whinny non smokers people are losing their businesses. Let me explain: the non smkers succeed in getting a smoking ban in place in a city, bars, clubs and restaurants are forced to comply, people who would have otherwise gone to these places choose not to, because they cant smoke. Ive seen WAY too many families lose their income due to the militant non smokers who push to get these bans in place.

No, it stinks and I don't want it in my mouth! Usually I keep a small distance away from smokers.
Small distance? You think that's enough? Not even close, mate. Once I got pulled by a smoker for a hundred feet! When I'm a smoker, I usually stand on the rooftop. You know. So that I can grab people without they knowing it. The problem, though is that many kn... He he he he he. I just couldn't resist. Not even possible

But back on topic (Hey, the topic is about smokers, so I wasn't really that far off topic, though.). I smoked before. It started with me trying a couple of cigarettes from my friends at school. Then it evolved. And by the age of 18, I was a smoker. Not smoking a lot, but a smoker. You know Three packages a week or something. I usually didn't have much money for cigarettes either, so I had to constrain myself.

Then I decided. Fuck it. I'll quit. This just doesn't do it for me. This was also the time I started using snuff (No, not the porn or anything wild lke that. Just the swedish tobacco, you have under you lip) kinda regulary. And so I was no longer a smoker who smoked about every day. Now I had gone to be a regular snuffer (No, not the porn! I've told you allready), and a party-smoker. Then I cutted down on snuffing (Swedish tobacco!) and up a bit on smoking. I would buy a pack now and then.

At last I quited completely. And when I came on the vessel, I started again. The smoke were so cheap, and I had no snuff (Swedish, tobacco, lip!) left. So I was smoking. Then I tried to cut back on it. But were left party-smoking again. When I came home from the vessel, I went back to fully becoming a snuffer (Don't even think about it). Not smoking at all too. Then I came back on the vessel again. I tried one smoke, and found out that it just tasted awfully. So from this moment and on, the smoke tastes and smells and feels really bad. I'm not going near any of that. But I am, though, snuffing (`.´) all the time in four out of 12 months. So there you go. That's the story of my life, and why I do not smoke.

And remember kids. Stay away from smokers. They've got an insane tongue ;)

I tried smoking once. I got pissed off because everyone told me that it was so addictive, I only found it to be a waste of money, time and health. Seriously, I don't see anything addictive about it.

God no, smoking is bad for your health. But as my old teacher used to say, what isn't?

But really, smoking in modern society is just stupid, I kinda get it if you've been doing it since before we figured out the dangers of it, but now, come on. I don't believe for a second that there are still people who smoke that are totally unaware of the dangers.
agreed. plus personally I dont like the smell.

I'm very "holier than thou" when it comes to smoking. I was brought up when practically every adult smoked around me and I can't stand the smell. I'm glad in London they've banned smoking pretty much everywhere now :p.

Why would it? Smoking is pretty pointless en certainly not worth a 1/3 chance of getting lung cancer. It's also very annoying for people around you.

Honestly I think anyone who smokes has to be pretty stupid. I don't even see why people start smoking. What could you possibly gain from doing it?

Nope, never had and can quite confidently say never will. As my parents once said if they ever caught us smoking they would force us to smoke twenty until we were dog sick thus solving our curiosity.
