I guess I'm a social smoker? I only smoke cigarettes when I'm blackout drunk which is the only indicator my friends have to stop serving me, but I enjoy hookahs, cigars and the strange. all in all I think cigarettes are disgusting, but not nearly as bad as dipping.

Pro-tip: roll your own, handrolled cigs are the only ones I've ever enjoyed sober

No, It can harm you in the long run and not too mention all that precious money that a person spends on cigarettes a year, so I'm going to keep away from the stuff. No problem with others that smoke, except when they are in my face, just that I would rather keep my money and lungs.

On the bright side the tax on them here in England helps to pay for stuff like the NHS, so I suppose we can thank the smokers for one thing :)

I'll smoke the occasional cigar. Usually just one or two at social things with family/friends ya know. I've never tried cigerettes though.

Yes, No and Maybe.

Yes, I have been a pack a day for over a year.

No, I don't smoke anymore (Haven't had one in 6 months.)

Though, I might smoke when I get compeletely shitt-housed, I just don't remember the occurance. (I like to smoke while drinking.)

No, because I went to Las Vegas some summers ago and we stayed in one of those really gimmicky fancy hotels and to leave to go do fun stuff, we had to pass through the casino. The air content in that room was 10% oxygen, 5% misc chemicals and 85% cigarette smoke. I now despise the smell.

No, not cigarettes anyway.

But it still annoys me when people go all OMG BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH!!1! about it. I'm pretty sure everyone knows by now, and most smokers probably have their minds made up, nagging isn't going to help. I try think of smoking as a necassary evil, seeing as at least half the tax people pay for them goes to the NHS.

And honestly, if you're a smoker the way people single you out, you might as well be a bloody serial killer.

*Sigh* See. All of us that do smoke, know that it's bad for us. We've been told more times than anyone on earth will care to count.

Also, your comment there about smoking in public? Shove it in the trashbin. UNLESS you see smokers that light one up within inches of you, and puffs the smoke in your face, or anyone elses face, or close to people with kids, etc, don't complain. The wind will wisk the smoke off before it can reach your precious lungs.

I smoke. I also smoke in public. I never, however, go up to a random person and light a cigarette right next to them. It's just courtesy.

Though, if I'm waiting for the bus, sucking happily on my cig, and people walk up and stand next to me? Their own bloody problem. And I dare any of them to complain then.

The air is free. And I will only stop smoking my cigs when/if the day comes that cars running on gasoline are banned, and chucked away. 'till then; *lights a cig* Cheers.

So about (maybe) 60%+ of the Escapist doesn't smoke? Those stats are probably better than my Junior High School.

I have never tried one nor do I plan to. Seems pointless, why pay for something(that sucks at first), be irritated without it, and not be allowed to to in in most places?

I've tried once because I was feeling very stressed and thought it could help me deal with it at the time. My first puff and I started hacking and coughing, my lungs burned and my eyes watered. Since then, nooooooooooooooooo.

I had one cigarette once when I was a kid, hated it. Coughed it up, thought it made me stink like a wino, wondered "why the HELL do people do this willingly?" and never touched it again. Absolutely gross.

I can understand why people have immense trouble quitting, but why people get started in the first place, I've never really understood that.
