So I went to see Kick-Ass earlier today at a nearby cinema sneaking in a bottle of water. When I sat down I noticed quite a few other people had brought other things in that weren't bought from the cinema. I then started wondering about how many people do this, I think it's fair enough if they're going to charge ridiculously high prices.

Sometimes, they do charge some ridiculous prices in cinemas. It depends if I want popcorn or not mainly.

If I didn't want giant amounts of popcorn and candy, I wouldn't have gone to the cinema in the first place, so no real point in sneaking in food.

I never buy food at cinema prices. I always bring in a bag of candy, and a bottle of soda.

No. I work at a cinema and hate it when people come in with big bags of crap and I have to clean up all the mess. Chewits and other individually wrapped sweets are the worst. I'm not paid to clean up mess people have brought with them.

So much of ticket sales goes straight to the distributor, and concession sales are the only way to stay in business.

Oh and they always bring in weird stuff too like that powdered candy that is impossible to clean up, and Bacon. I actually found an empty packet of Bacon under one of the seats. WTF!?

Sometimes buy drinks in the cinema. It's better cold. Always bring my own food though.

I buy stuff that they sell at the cinemas at other shops before I go in, just to be safe. Sneaky! :D

Is this wrong?

I usually just bring my own and carry it in my hand.
Yeah, Cinema near my house has no problem with just bringing your own things. Me and my friend were on a 3 movie spree and they let us take in a big two litre bottle of coke and 3 bags of popcorn.

Usually however I buy from the cinema I like there popcorn more.

I bring in stuff I can't buy at the cinema.
Like Tesco Cheese Savouries, the most addictive savoury snack ever.

I buy drinks there though.

(If you want to sell sweets, don't do what my local does and sell them at nearly double retail price...)

A lot of places don't care I usually just bring it in my hand. If there gonna charge crazy prices then they know that not everyone wants to pay.

I don't bring food that they sell in the theaters but I do feel like I have the right to take a small drink.

I usually bring my own food. Have you taken a look at the prices at the Cinemas lately? $5 for one hot dog? I think I may be cheap, but that is WAAAY too expensive!

I usually tend to take in my own drinks to the cinema, and sometimes some food thanks to the stupidly high prices in cinemas. Recently I've started buying some stuff from cinemas, but it won't last long - I just can't keep up with those prices.

I don't go to movies. I have no one to go with. I sit at home, alone, watching romantic movies on icefilms and crying on the inside.
I do something very similar, only with old Pokemon episodes and my deaf grandma.

I usually bring my own food, and just buy a drink or popcorn at the theater. My sister, on the other hand, has a giant purse and smuggles things like deli roast chicken in to eat with her kids. It makes me laugh, but at the same time it saddens me.

With thee prices they charge at cinemas just for sweets I usually buy them from somewhere else and take them to the cinema. The only exception is fizzy drinks and popcorn.
