No. I work at a cinema and hate it when people come in with big bags of crap and I have to clean up all the mess. Chewits and other individually wrapped sweets are the worst. I'm not paid to clean up mess people have brought with them.

So much of ticket sales goes straight to the distributor, and concession sales are the only way to stay in business.

Oh and they always bring in weird stuff too like that powdered candy that is impossible to clean up, and Bacon. I actually found an empty packet of Bacon under one of the seats. WTF!?
if it was empty, then how did you know it was bacon?
It had "Bacon" written on it in white letters.

I usually bring my own food. Have you taken a look at the prices at the Cinemas lately? $5 for one hot dog? I think I may be cheap, but that is WAAAY too expensive!
You're not cheap...but consider that in the UK, a hot dog is about £5. The current exchange rate puts your $5 at around...£3, give or take, right?
I don't know why it's so expensive here...do less people go to the cinema in the UK than the USA?

Yes, I certainly do. There's no way I'm paying for food and drink from the concession stands at a ridiculous markup when I can simply buy cheap drinks and crisps/sweets at a supermarket beforehand and smuggle them in inside a bag. I could understand it if the prices in the cinema were a certain amount above standard RRP, but not to the extent that they are currently.

Depends on the cinema. If they do decent stuff, I don't mind paying the prices. But so many of them sell second-rate crap and charge twice the price of the good stuff, that I just go buy the good stuff.

I generally bring in candy or something and buy a large drink then make sure to take advantage of the free refill. Or, go with a friend and we can split a large popcorn, then refill that (assuming it's needed, those things are huge) It's not quite as bad then.

I don't take my own food in, just as I wouldn't go to the pub with a bottle of Vodka. However I was amazed recently at the cost for coke and popcorn. For 3 people, over £20, that's the same as the tickets!

"free refill" - OMG not since McDonald's coffee at breakfast have I ever heard of free refill, I want this!

I always take a cold bottle of water with me, and we usually take candy and sometimes sodas in with us (theater prices are insane) - but I always make sure to take out any trash I create as well. If we do want popcorn, we'll get it there (movie popcorn's pretty tasty, and it's easier than bringing it yourself). Of course, I rarely actually visit the cinema; I usually just watch old movies with my friends at Uni.

Now what I miss are the really small cinemas that showed slightly older movies for cheap, and had neat little kids' boxes. Including a dinosaur toy!

Is this wrong?

I usually just bring my own and carry it in my hand.
Yeah, the cinemas I go to (in England) usually have a sign somewhere saying that taking in food/drinks purchased outside the cinema is forbidden.

I used to but the movie theatre close to my home doesn't allow outside food and drinks anymore. I was freaking angry when I found out.

I'll bring in candy (especially something that'll last a while, like jawbreakers), and get a large soda so I can refill it on the way out.

I'd be willing to buy a whole meal's worth of food at the theater (versus the mall food-court), if the prices were in line with the quality of stuff they offer.

£5.50 for a movie ticket then they charge about £6 for pop corn and a small drink. I dont bloody well think so

I always sneak stuff in. Theres a really cheap shop right next door to the cinema. Once snuck in 2 six packs of coke cans. Was a great day for all

No. I just pick out a nearby restaurant, get my tickets based on giving me a reasonable to eat, go to the picked out restaurant to eat and then show up on time for my movie thirst and hunger satisfied.

So I went to see Kick-Ass earlier today at a nearby cinema sneaking in a bottle of water. When I sat down I noticed quite a few other people had brought other things in that weren't bought from the cinema. I then started wondering about how many people do this, I think it's fair enough if they're going to charge ridiculously high prices.
Everytime. Sometimes just to spite the cinema for their retarded prices.

I've brought subway in before lol.

Usually a bag of Haribo Tangfastics and occaisonally a bottle of sprite if I have my bag with me, otherwise it looks too suspicious.

I can't fucking stand people eating in cinemas. WHY? You are there to watch a film. A piece of art/entertainment, you aren't there to eat with a film playing in the background. You don't have to be grazing throughout the whole movie to watch it. Watch the film! If we have gotten to the stage where as a society, we need food to watch a movie - then I wonder why everyone seems so fat.

Ah yes, this is a valid point Kortney, I agree; If it was indeed the film you were sitting through...

...and not the 1/2 hour of adverts before.
