Yes, I take his reviews completely seriously. People complain that he points out every little thing that's wrong with a game, but that's because he's a bloody critic. That's what critics are meant to do. Like he said-"If I put people's balls in my mouth for a living then I'd be a prostitute, or perhaps a Gamespot employee". It's great to see that someone is able to differentiate between a shit game, an okay game and an excellent game, whereas other reviewers throw out 9/10 scores so easily that its lost all meaning.

I just get the feeling most people focus on the criticisms too much. There are seldom few reviews where he only has bad things to say about a game (Wet, Kane and Lynch 2 etc.) but people seem to feel that this is the treatment most games get. He does say the things that a game does well, perhaps you're not paying close enough attention.

And really, if he gave a bad review to a game that you liked, reapply your mascara and get over it. It really shouldn't get to you that much if you can come up with legitimate reasons why he is wrong. And if it does get to you then you must be extremely insecure.

The thing about his reviews is that while he exaggerates for comic effect he still bring out several accurate points about a game that most reviewers miss or ignore. So do I take his reviews seriously to an extent yes I do, but always keep in mind the whole exaggrated aspect of his reviews.

What if he did a poorly done review of a game I liked, where he never gets around to actually talking about the meat (if you will) of the game? It baffles me that someone like him could get paid (or even compensated) for doing such a shoddy job.

It's like hiring a repairman, finding he dismantled but never got around to reassembling or even fixing it. He did a fraction of the job he was paid to do. Got called out on it. Wrote an "Extra Punctuation" article where he constructed a straw man argument for the game and demolished it. Then told fans to "fuck off".

God, no. Seriously? People watch him for consumer advice and not just entertainment?

I tend to listen to what he says. Yahtzee is a very extreme kind of reviewer. He sees all the bad in a game and if they are problems I can live with, then I will play the game. It's kinda sad that I have to make my decision of game buying by finding the one that doesn't completely suck...

I watch ZP because I think they're funny. I don't take many reviews seriously. I have to play a game first before I deem it worth my time or not.

Do I take his reviews seriously? No, but I enjoy cynicism and all the things that come with it. Like bashing the hell out of some games and running a very popular bar in Brisbane.

I take it semi-seriously, as in, I know that he's actually giving his real opinion (Which is more often then not, VERY well thought out), but I also know that he's exagerating that opinion to insane levels for comedic effect.

It's a bit more neuanced then that. His reviews are first and foremost entertainment, but what he says is usually based in reality. So while I don't make my decision to buy or not buy a game based on his reviews I do often take into account what he's saying.

Somewhat, but a lot of the criticisms he makes out to be a bigger deal than they really are.

I usually would listen to Yahtzee then play the game he has reviewed and try to find the points he made about the game.

I take them pretty seriously, because in my experience I have the same opinions towards games as he does. If I see a review of a game I've already played or am considering playing I ALWAYS watch it. Actually, the way I found out about Zero Punctuation and in turn this site was because a friend of mine mentioned that his reviews were like listening to me rant about games. I don't think I hold a candle to him but that's my origin story.

Part-part. Sure, they are exaggerated for comedic effect, but he usually has a point about the criticisms to be made. It's only a matter of how important one individually considers certain features or genres. It's always a matter of personal taste, just consider JRPGs which Yahtzee categorically hates, but many people like. It's subjective, ultimately.

He is just another opinionated human. I have had good experiences with games he thinks are bad. I have also heard someone dislike his favorite game. Everyone has their opinions, so, just like most people, I take his reviews as entertainment.

I Take his reviews seriously, but unfortunately I normally have to watch them 3 or 4 times to be able to remember what he said.

I enjoy his reviews and think that he is a pretty good reveiwer, however some of the time i tend to ignore some of the things that he says regarding games because i know that alot of yahtzee's reviews are made to entertain slightly more than to inform.

That would defeat the entire purpose of watching ZP, on my part. I love to listen to rants on video games I am skeptical of/dislike, and ZP fulfills that desire for me.

I've only taken ZP seriously maybe.. one or twice, ever?

I understand that he exaggerates, So I pretty much dull down what he says by a little bit...Or justify it by a mental table I have being "= Very good, = Alright, = Shit, = Kane & Lynch 2"

I don't take everything he says seriously but for the most part he does make some good points
