PCs and to be honest most modern electronics are designed to run and run and run. Do you turn your mobile phone off? Ever?

That being said unless I have a specific need to leave my pc running I turn it off when I got to work. But if im on my days off or have like a week of

Mid post edit : As I was writing this the electricity ran out and everything turned off lol.

or have a week off work my pc is on for the duration. My console I turn off when im not using it cos well, why leave my xbox running.
Well to be honest phones these days are kind of like disposable camera's, there changed so often that there not really designed to last.

There is a new phone coming out almost every week, with something bigger or new features or something. Most people have contracts aswell so at the end of the contract they upgrade to a new phone.

How old is your phone for example? Although having siad all of this, my phone is about 5 years old.

On topic. I live alone and I don't have a job, do you think I would leave stuff on all day everyday?

laptop: turn it of when it is almost dead on battery; charge it, and go on next day and what not.

Consoles: if I'm not using them, then there's no point in me keeping them on; because my parents will castrate me if i waste electricity---money.

Turn off consoles once I'm done. PC's tends to stay on for days, if we're selling stuff on characters or just plan on using it later, we'll leave it on.

You should always turn off your console, particularly the 360. Consoles don't have nearly the airflow that most gaming PCs do, so they build up heat much more quickly and retain a higher operating temperature. That's bad for the console.

I leave my PC on 24/7 though. With proper airflow there's not much harm to the components from heat, and it's a lot more convenient obviously. Only thing I turn off is my monitor.

I always turn off my consoles or put them on some kind of sleep or standby. As for computers, I almost never turned off my Macbook unless I thought it really needed it; I just closed it and let it sleep. I just got a nice new PC though and I can just press a button to put it on standby. It effectively turns it off, but it saves the current state into the RAM or something? I dunno, the friend who built the thing explained it better, but it resumes Windows really fast when I turn it back on, with whatever programs that were running resuming in the same spot.

I'm not an expert, but that doesn't seem to healthy for the computer.
You are indeed not an expert. Most computers survive a bit longer if you constantly leave them on. It's because the components prefer to be in a stable state rather than being stressed by booting and turning off. It was counter-intuitive until I started working in the industry.

Unless I have a torrent downloading I only turn my PC off when I go to sleep or leave my house for a day or more.
I always turn off my 360 when I'm not using it.

Depends. My laptop takes stupid long to boot up so sometimes i just put it in sleep. And a lot of times I have a ton of reading material or something up so i let it go.

Same with my PSP and DS, I let it run so I can just play it the next day.

I turn my console off to save money. Apparently the PS3 eats a lot of power whilst in standby-mode, and it's not that much of an effort to turn it off.

I usually turn off 'my' PC, but since I share it with my family there are such times when I don't.
My very own Mac however, I turn off whenever I don't use it.

I turn it off every day after 18h+ gaming(yes I know,no lifer bla bla).I know that if I do that it may strain my PC,but at least I don't get any of my parts fried due to overheat.

The coolers/ventilators that I have on my case is not enough for my "nearly new" video card so I'd rather not risk it frying it.

I turn off my consoles, and I put my laptop into standby or hibernate.

Saving energy and money, kids.

My Xbox 360 and PS3 get turned off when I'm not using them. My PC hasn't been turned off in like 2 years.

console goes off after every use, my PC is never off, neither is my server. I remote in to my PC on a regular basis. Only time I turn it off is if I am out of town for a long time because everything I need is on my server which is accessible from the web
