I generally only use cheating as a utility. Like forcing a broken mission a step forward so I don't have to restart it from way back or if I lost a game (friend overwriting it etc) I can start a new game then push all the missions forward until I get back to where I was before. Though occasionally I do use cheats for screwing around recreationally, spawning uber weapons in fallout 3 (haha PC Fallout 3 console FTW) like the mysterious stranger's revolver that does something like 8k damage and spawning uber cars IN GTA: Vice City. I don't use the weapons/vehicles in the storyline though.

I like to cheat in a game after I've finished it, just to see what else there is to discover.
And only in single player ;)

I only use cheats when I've finished the game legitimately. Just for fun, for example in the GTA games.

I used cheats alot as a kid as alot of games are hard when your at that age and its nice to cheat and to be able to have fun without having to play a game for days to unlock things. Although now I have to say I never really cheat.

I only use cheats when I complete the game or main part.

Take TES IV: Oblivion for example.

I've completed the main game on the Xbox 360.
Then I got it for PC because the game wasn't mine. When I got it on PC I then used the console. (Which is tons of fun mind you.)

This.

Some of the Neverwinter Nights community modules are great, but incredibly buggy. I can't count the number of times I've gotten stuck and checked to walkthrough only to find that it was because of a plot critical NPC not spawning, so I move them manually.

I've also had issues in Oblivion where I mysteriously fell off the world map and needed to use Noclip in order to get out. This was just in Vanilla. When mods were introduced, things got worse.

I don't think iv'e ever used cheats (Besides The Sims when I was 12 XD).
Seems like a good option for sandbox games when they become boring.

I sometimes use cheats, if it adds to the fun.
For example, in GTA3 I used to turn on the "pedestrians have weapons" and the "everyone attacks everyone" cheats. Then I'd try to survive as long as possible. Good times, good times.

No, generally they make the game less fun as the challenge decreases significantly. Occasionally used console commands to get past impossible scenarios, for example I once picked up a plot critical item in morrowind, carried it to God knows where and dropped it. Didn't know I would need it at the time so I just spawned one in my inventory once I realised that the game was impossible to complete without it. I wouldn't really call that cheating though...

Not normally, but in GTA:SA there was a cheat to instantly spawn a Harrier Jet.

You see where I'm going with this

That depends. I do not cheat in online games. I usually cheat to add life to games I've finished 1 or 20 times. After 4 Sims families I started cheating at The Sims XD I also sometimes use cheats to "unbug/unglitch" games.

Would Saints Row 2 be the same game without Low Gravity and Super Explosions?
No, no it would not. Not ever.

I don't use cheats to complete the main mission, I use cheats if I want to just mess around a bit.

i don't cheat just to get through a game, but when i have finished it, i usually find some cheats and screw around just for fun. GTA is the best game for this, there is nothing you can't do once you start messing around with the cheats.

Used to. In gta but not in any other games...I think I did in Goldeneye as well but they were easyer to put on and changed game play in a different way.

Now i dont cheat at all, again sometimes if messing in gta but then it is only the fun things like making people riot or making chicks follow you.
i complain about my mate cheating in gta for weapons and armour that I did not like but then would complain when I suggested using a no fail mode in guitar hero or a no gravity cheat in an fps...cannot remember the game

Usually I play the game first and then if I feel like cutting corners later on i'll cheat to save time so I don't have to repeat parts. The only game I cheated on from the beginning and was okay with it was the original Sim City on Snes with the $ 1,000,000 dollar cheat. I just wanted to start building my Metropolis right away. (I never could get past 330,000 citizens though).

For some reason I didn't cheat on Need For Speed: Underground. I played it from start to finish without using any. I felt that game had the right balance of difficulty and fun so I never needed to and the races were non-repetitive in my opinion since they never quite were the same each time.
