Well, I have pretty thick hair, so once it get's a certain lenght I really have no choice but to dual-wield hats and hairgel to get the damn thing to stay somewhere manageable. There's a reason I usually trim it to within a few milimetres in lenght.

I don't use gel but I do use a matte putty to shape it into it's mowhawk shape and keeps it from going shiny and firm.

I don't, but I have quite long hair, and I really need something told hold it in place other than hairspray.

I use a bit of mousse now and then to help keep my hair in shape, but you can never really tell I've got stuff in it. It just helps keep it combed back.

Nope, never do. My hair is too long for hair gel, plus it's too much effort:p

My husband's hair is long and curly, so he usually uses gel to get rid of the frizz when he ties it back, particularly for work where he may need to look presentable.

I wish he wouldn't wear it, but he seems convinced that a little frizz "halo", as he puts it, is the work of Satan.

Well, I rarely use it cause I like to play with my hair a lot and having gel or wax in it will make my hands all sticky.

One thing I've learned...never tell someone how to wear their hair. Long, short, bald, dreaded, gelled, dyed, spiked, permed, straightened, braided...never, ever tell someone that a certain style is wrong or "unattractive".

Hair is a legitimate expression of personal freedom and only a complete dick will attempt to exert his influence over someone else's freedom.

I don't bother with it, I don't even bother styling or cutting my hair since I've got dredlocks anyway.

I have spray wax, works a treat and doesn't alter the appearance or feel.

I have something of a dislike for hair gel, but thats only because of the people who wore it at school who I thought were cocks. So a bit irrational really. I'd use it if I was going for a slicker hairdo. But I'm more of a Morrissey quiff guy for the time-being.

If your talking about general hair products i use some stuff that isnt gel, but gives my hair a texture and nice shape, otherwise its just crappy strait hair and very few haircuts fit me, my hair is just strait as hell.
Same reason I use styling paste (which looks great on short hair if you don't over-use it.) And I've gotten tons of compliments on it. If I don't do anything with my hair, it grows straight. 100% straight out the side of my head. It makes me look like I have windfoils.
