I've used it a few times before, but for no other reason than to look slightly odd that day.

Hell no, that stuff is disgusting. If I want to fix my hair, I'll use a paste, wax, etc. but never gel, makes hair shiny and sticky.

I used hair gel a little in high school when my hair was sort of spikey. Now I just cut it real short, so it doesn't matter.

I have the worst cow licks in the universe, so it helped my hair didn't stay in place without a lot of help.

Use it to stop myself being a fucking bowl-head. And if my hair's shorter I just look like a dandelion. Just enough on my fringe to stop this effect though, no need for that greasy look, I find it a bit much also.

I use a very small amount because I have really wavy hair that gets messed up easily by a slight breeze. You can't even tell I use it.

HAHA, consider yourself lucky for not HAVING to use it. I personally use wax (one that my girlfriend happens to love, fyi) so it doesnt make my hair look all shiny and gooped together like many gels will. And this isn't about making some wacky hairdo, I have to use it or my hair will look like the bottom end of a toilet brush. I've tried having everything from longer hair (which looks like I have a blonde skunk sitting on top of my head) to buzzcut and since I look like a twat with a buzzcut I have short hair with wax in it. Better to have a little stuff in it than having it looked unkept anyway.

I use it to spike my hair up/back when I first get a haircut... then after about a week it becomes more trouble than it's worth especially when washing it out so I just brush my hair after my morning shower and let it ride.

Not only is my hair short (I never let go past three inches), but it is stubborn.

It's impossible to try to move my hair and make it stay there.

Hey there guys, I just wanted to address something I've been noticing a lot lately...
Hair gel. I hate it.

I find it disgusting. It plasters your hair into little sticky, stiff strings that stick to your scalp or lay on top. It looks especially bad with medium to longish hair, where it just makes it look greasy and dirty. It looks very unattractive. I cannot understand why people use it.

Making hair look nice is all about the cut. Get a decent cut, make sure you wash it and condition it frequently (every couple of days in my case, I exercise a lot), and straighten it if it's your style. You don't have to shape it with this chemical goop every morning.

I have not met a single girl who likes it when guys wear hair gel. One girl even told me it makes guys look like tossers.

Now, having said this, I went through a bout of wearing hair gel for a couple of months. Now I can't stand the stuff. It makes me shudder when I have to look at the back of some guy's greasy, sticky head every morning on the bus. It doesn't exactly feel nice either! Do you want a girl to have to wipe her hand off if she plays with your hair? Not cool.

Anyways, I just want to hear some reasons or opinions.
How do you feel about hair gel? If you DO use it, why?
This:

Is superior to this?

Ridiculous. Girls might find it "cool" or "hip" - LADIES don't.
Funny, that first pictures looks like my hair when I don't use a little gel. It's not all about making the hair into some crazy or guido style. Some of us need it to tame the hair so we don't look ridiculous.

And that guy in the second picture is using something to hold his hair in place like that.

My hair is 2 feet long, and I'm a guy, so the only time I've used it was when my pal gave me this hairstyle.
It was AWESOME.

Yeah, I need to use either wax or shaping putty.
Mainly because I look ridiculous without spiky hair.
I mean, seriously. It goes all... poofy without some kind of product. Looks silly.
I only use a pinch of wax/putty, and make sure that it gets through my hair evenly.

I don't use it but I know people who do...the mistake most people make with it is using too much, you use a little to help style your hair not plaster it.

Maaaaan, I have real issues with gel and wax, and hair length. I could just not use anything and Ive tried it but my hair naturally parts on the right and sits easily down on my scalp. So I look like a well groomed mommas boy (shit you not, actual words used by people, after I explained it wasn't a haircut). As you can imagine I hate that so much i want to set it on fire, so I use gel. But I can only use gel when My hair is short or I look like a fag, and I hilariously always end up using gel for just a little too long and spending a week looking like an idiot before switching to wax. Which again only works for a month or so before its haircut time and back to gel.

I don't know if it makes me more attractive to others, but I always think I look better with a little bit of product in my hair. Or a lot of product if my hair is long (I can use it to hold pens and pencils when its long, without wax.) And that's what counts right? self image? right?

Aww who am I kidding IM UGLY! DONT LOOK AT ME!!!

How else do I get skanks and bitches when I go out?

On a more serious note, I use Mandom Gatsby Moving Rubber, solely for the fact that I'm mesmerized by the commercial.

How does he move like that?!
