In my biased opinion, since English is the only language I know, I find it to be the most beautiful language. It is expressive, and and dismissive. It can bewilder, beguile, and bereft you from thoughts. It can cause a relapse of ideas, or a loss of ideology all together. Its a great language, and should be protected as such. These short hands are made to make life easier for the illiterate people who find it quicker to get a message across as cold and callous, and quick. Their words hold no weight, and no proper judgment ever came from "Like, omg, ok so this guy was actually going to mak meh bye my own dinner. No1 should do that, u no? R u ther? Ah, i g2g, ttyl, BAI!" Its an embarrassment to a language that has birthed some of the worlds greatest writers. Its an embarrassment and should be treated as such.

No, I hate it.

Even online I try and condition myself to not use fads or saying things like lol. I just say Haha and only when I actually laugh.

I use abbreviation for a whole sentence sometimes to confuse people. Like GOOMHIHY. Get out of my house I hate you. Stuff like that, I don't think that counts though because they are not online abbreviations or recognized abbreviations at all for that matter.
I may just have to try doing that now. Sounds like fun.
The confused look on everyone else's face makes it all worth it. My friend knows I do this and he does it too sometimes, it's fun to try to figure out what he is saying and vice-versa.

If I did, I would be honor-bound to commit hara-kiri.

It gets annoying when people do it. I've eaten meals with people, and they end by saying "gg people, gg." I have never, in my 21 years of existence on this green Earth, wanted to rip a man's trachea and feed it to him more than in those 5 seconds.

no. due to 2 facts. 1: They sound stupid as fuck and
2: it's usually either less time consuming or the same amount of time to actually say the words. For example, Say "What the fuck" now say "Double-you tee eff"

I never do, off or online. I get pissed when I hear anyone use it in speech, and even reading it is incredibly annoying. Although using them incorrectly can be fun. "Dude, watif!?"

I sometimes (and only recently) say "STFU/GTFO pl0x", and I met a guy a few weeks ago who says "internet abbreviations" often, so I'm kind of...mocking him, though he isn't around at those moments.

Generally no, but I've probably used them in an ironic way to make fun of someone.
