absolutely yes. the first one was an experiment. sure, it didn't exactly go as planned, but with a little tweaking and some serious polish a sequel could be a fantastic experience.

I played the demo for it and thought it was bad. That's pretty much all there is to say on the matter. Sometimes people don't like games for no reason in particular.

Yes.

The original had a lot of problems (some crummy level design, crappy story, boring characters, unnecessary combat). But it also had some of the most intense sequences I've ever seen and the potential to be something pretty awesome.

So I'd like to see them take a second swing at it.

Although, the games industry being what it is is, they'd probably try and fix it by making everything brown, adding vehicle sections and giving Faith a rocket launcher.

I LOVED Mirrors Edge. There was something so very beautiful and tranquil with the game play. It was like a more urban Flower for me. The music, the parkour, the action. Mm, I got so involved that I'd start to get hyper active, and need to go run, bike, work out, wahtever! It was a game that inspired me into action outside of the field of the game itself.

So yeah, I'm gonna get it. :)

Personally, I'm going to wait on this one. They have a few different ways to change the game and it may ruin the mechanics that made the first one special. For now, the answer is "no", but really I am planning on waiting to see how the gameplay is before buying (ie. either gameplay vids, or a demo).

Absolutely loved the first one and am VERY upset that EA has decided to pull the plug on this one...
as others in this thread have stated the first one was flawed but could definitely be improved on with a sequel! I think we as the community can agree that "not having multiplayer" is not an acceptable reason for not creating a sequel.

On the topic of guns, I think that the game would be better off abandoning gunplay all together, unless they could incorporate it in a way that didn't take away from the flow of the game. But that would probably mean the introduction of a fancy shooting system, etc which is really not what the series needs.

Dammit, EA. y u do this

EDIT: an article you guys might find interesting http://albotas.com/post/3355574156/no-risks-allowed-in-the-game-industry

why was it a piece of crap?

i really wana know.
Well the story made no sense whatsoever, the level design was terrible, combat was disastrous, difficulty all over the place etc. Hey I was surprised how fun the game was at the beginning, but later I just couldn't care less. It's like someone had an idea for a game, but had no idea how to finish it, so they hired a team and cobbled the thing together in three days or something. Seriously, if they make another game like this, they only need to keep like the core 5% of ME1 and redo everything else.
Hmm, I have to completely disagree. The story was actually very simple. Simple enough that snip-its of it could be delivered every chapter, and then pieced together very easily by the end. A simple story of betrayal, deception, vengence, and family love. the whole thing can be summed up in a paragraph even. I'm not about to lay down the spoilers though.

The game play was like water to me. I flowed over pipes, through doors, up walls, and into vents. I replayed levels to do it faster, find the better rout, do the impossible, and just lose myself in the rush the game gave me.

The story, and the game, tied up into a bow pretty nicely, with just enough left unresolved to warrant a sequel. The people on Mirrors Edge team knew how to end their game just fine.

I'd like to see a spiritual sequel, rather than a direct sequel.

They really need to focus on the story aspect now that they have a mostly solid game-play foundation. Keep it single-player focused & keep the bright, colourful environments.

I think its worth a shot.

and don't title it Mirror's Edge 2.

Voted no, because I tire a bit of the sequel trend this industry has. Id rather see a new idea, new gameplay elements from a great team of developers.

I liked Mirrors Edge, but it felt rushed as far as content goes, and it left me begging for more. I loved freerunning, and I would give Dice full support of going after this sequel. I don't care if its a sequel, I would perform a blood sacrifice to get it into production.

No; it's just not my type of game. Maybe I'd play it if I had the money and time but there are other games coming out this year that I'm far more interested in and gaming isn't going to be a cheap hobby in 2011 (so many great games coming out). Also I like RPGS and conventional FPS games more to begin with, though it's good to see companies trying new ideas.

Personally, I loved the art style and the gameplay. The story was kinda "meh" and there were too many "Where-the-hell-do-I-go-moments". But, yes, I want a sequel. Hope they add some sort of sandbox mode that lets you explore the city and run around on roofs

I voted no simply because I never played the first so I have no opinion. I don't care on way or the other, but it didn't have that option and I couldn't vote yes really, so thus, my vote.
