I loathe sequels most of the time, but this is one game that really needs one. There's a story to be told, good core gameplay to perfect and a concept to meat out and it needs to be done!

Not to mention the game was fucking beautiful.

Not really. I never played the original, and I do not plan to anytime soon. It just does not look like it can work that well. I mean, first-person platforming? Really? I would want to play a game that is based solely around one of the worst parts of some shooters (besides sewer levels)? No thanks.

The game screams missed potential. Of any game I've played, this is the one that needs a sequel the most, to improve on everything it did right in the first one.

So yes. I'd be quite excited for a sequel, given that they could refine and improve it.

Don't knock something until you've tried it. It's done quite well indeed.
Precision jumps aren't a problem.

I voted no. Tremendously, tremendously overrated game that caused everyone to go nuts because it wasn't an FPS. Look, I'm all for innovation, but it has to be done well, and Mirror's Edge was tedious and repetitive, filled with annoying characters and weird, sterile visuals. I'd be interested to see someone else tackle the whole free-running game thing (and it looks like they'll at least touch on it with Brink) but I definitely wouldn't pay another sixty bucks for a new Mirror's edge.

Yes, but only if they ditch the combat moments of the game. It is meant to be a fast paced acrobatic game, not a fast paced acrobatic game unless they decide they want you to stop and fight. The best way to handle confrontation in a game like this is to use your acrobatics to avoid it.

I enjoyed the style it went with. The type of gameplay, even though I was both terrible at it and frustrated with the somewhat uncooperative controls, was definitely a very cool idea.
The way they used bright red to indicate what you are supposed to do to try and not break up gameflow was a very neat idea as well.

I would love to see a game in the same style, but I don't really want a Mirror's Edge 2.
The story while had some interesting bits sprinkled about, just didn't grip me at all, I cared exactly nothing for any of the characters doubly so since I am fairly certain they are all terrorists.

As flawed as it was, I liked what it was trying to do. A sequel would have the potential to iron out the first game's problems.

It would probably be the first thing I ever pre-order. Mirror's Edge was my favorite game of all time.

I adore pretty much everything about it except the length and broken leaderboards.

I'd say yes. While there were plenty of good ideas on display in Mirror's Edge, it didn't execute them as well as it could have. The iteration of a second installment could be all it takes to make an excellent game rather than a "good" game with a laundry list of qualifying statements.

Yes, absolutely, EVENTUALLY. I don't want it to be rushed out. Mirror's Edge had a great concept, and given it was a first try at that type of game, its flaws can be forgiven, but if Mirror's Edge 2 is too much like the original the flaws will be much harder to forgive.

First of all, EA needs to wait until Brink is released, and see how Brink handles parkour and movement. Once they have that sorted, and see how Brink improved on Mirror's Edge, they need to take a look at what still needs improvement, and move from there.

Second of all, DICE can't be the one handling it. Sure, they did a decent enough job, but there are a few indicators that they're not capable of thinking outside the box. If you leave the map area in Battlefield, you get a mortar dropped on you. Fair enough for a war game where people die randomly, but having that same logic where what appears to be a logical path suddenly becomes lethal isn't. Playing Mirror's Edge was like playing D&D with the worst DM ever, and they can't make a free running game with a wartime shooter mentality.

Running from that, EA needs to find the right team for the job - a team that has shown they can think outside of the box and make multiple types of games. Maybe one that has made an FPS in the past, but also an adventure game or an RPG - something completely unrelated to Mirror's Edge to show they're not a one trick pony. Bringing on their sports division would make sense too. Perhaps the team that made EA Skate could do a good job with Mirror's Edge, or bring on some people from various teams to put it all together.

Voted no, the first one just didn't do it for me. However I would be cool with it if they did make another, I'm sure they'd fix many of the issues of the first game and make a better product.
