Probably not, unless there were significant legal/financial benefits to being married. I mean, I think I can be in love with someone and be in a de facto relationship without signing a bit of paper, right? If Julia Gillard can do it, I can. A wedding ceremony seems more for the benefit for everyone else anyway. I realise it goes against most women's desires to have a lavish wedding and all that, but I just don't see the point.

Depends on if I ever get a girlfriend. Even if I do, I'd wait until after I finish college and find out what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Nope. What's the point? It doesn't keep you together: you do that yourself. Married people split up all the time, and then it's just messier because they got married first. Whereas if you don't get married and then things don't work out for whatever reason, you just go your separate ways without all the bullshit. So forget marriage; it doesn't do anything for me and I don't need it.

I think marriage is a great expression of a persons commitment to their significant other, but that is quite axiomatic. I probably wont get married unfortunately, considering I cant talk to women, and I am also so invested in my work and studies. But the question remains, if I could would I? Well if my partner wanted to get married then I would feel obliged, but the statistics about divorce are quite alarming. Argh, so many things to consider, too many variables.... I think I would.

we all know the up and downs of marriage. do you want to be in that? personally i don't.
You know, you should add an option for those of us who are already happily married.

... of course, if you do so, I won't be able to use it since I already voted "yes" (since I wanted to get married, so I did so).

Yeah, I'm hoping to marry a nice girl one day and have some kids. I'm worried about when or if it will happen, but I'm in college. No rush.

I was engaged once. Didn't turn out well for us. I still want to get married, though.

I'd love to, once I find that right guy. I've never liked the idea of spending the rest of your life with a boyfriend. The way I see it, the girlfriend/boyfriend status is only temporary. In due time, you either go all the way or you break it off. It's that simple. I don't see it as the "final stop" in a relationship.

To me, staying boyfriend/girlfriend for the rest of your days would feel like riding a bike with the training wheels on and never bothering to take them off--even when you know you'd do just fine without them. In the end, you're just holding yourself back from the fear of wiping out.

well the first time didn't exactly leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling toward the institution of marriage. i don't think i'll be leaping into another marriage anytime soon.

usually its easier to share a life, plus makes having kids easier if you want them, which I do, just gotta get lucky and find someone who actually likes me and I like them and can get past all the bs and chips of life. It seems like everyone nowadays doesn't give a fuck about anything or anyone and all they want is to act one way and do something else. You cant tell what anyone truly wants anymore. Hell, getting married would be nice, but if we all blinked out of existence before it, I guess I wouldn't mind that either.

I have always found marriage stupid. Nothing changes between dating, engagement, and marriage(well, things do change but not because of those imaginary lines). I still would like some sort of companion equal to a wife.

I have been married now for 3 years, we've got a 3 month old, and have a ton of fun together. Marrying your best friend makes the whole marriage thing simpler.

Me being an engineer, I learn from mistakes and miss no opportunity to improve something. Sounds like a plan. I've seen enough ones go bad to be discouraged, but I don't. I know what went wrong. I know how not to go wrong.
