No, I don't. Videos don't generally let the author add much to it, which is the main point of an LP for me. The one exception is the Legacy of Kain LP, which I recommend to everyone - the series works better when watched, in some ways.

I do, however, read and make screenshot LPs.

Yeah, some are actually quite good, I haven't seen that many but overall the ones I have seen are entertaining.

Yes. Especially entertaining when things screw up and the commentator gets angry - TheSpoonyOne's LP of SWAT 4 come to mind (YOU FOOL!), or this LP of Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 [http://lparchive.org/Sonic-The-Hedgehog-2006/].

I really enjoy them and watch them quite often, hoping to start my own LP. Not sure how to get started or what to play first though.

Blind LPs are especially good (for those who don't know, its an LP during the commentator's first playthrough).
Really? The last thing I want to see is somebody wandering around not knowing what the hell to do. It stinks of a lack of professionalism and effort.
Anyone with the slightest knowledge of video editing knows how to cut that part out. Most people find that if they end up making a video or two... or twelve of just getting lost (since on YT they are only about 10 minutes long) then they flat out don't get releas
Occasionally there will be ONE video of them getting lost. Then the LPer would stop recording, play around until they find something that says "AHA, PROGRESS!" then turn it off without saving just to retrace that path for us viewers. It's that kind of devotion to redo their hard work and to take the time to edit the videos that is part of what makes a great LPer. Toegoff and Idiot9.0 are great examples for that, more the latter than the former, but Toegoff is rather entertaining that I could watch through all the attempts and if all else fails, just skip to the video where he makes sweet, sweet progress. Granted, some games aren't for Blind LPs, especially massive RPGs and of course those ridiculous MMOs, but platformer games like Kirby and smaller RPGs are great for Blind LPs. Possibly some shooters too, even though I'm not the biggest shooter fan in the world.

EDIT: I also find less entertainment value in someone knowing exactly where to go and what to do. It kind of gives the dull impression of a walkthrough instead of the entertainment value of a Let's Play.

Only if they have a funny commentary, like Amnesia videos of people freaking out, but ones marketed as funny usually suck because, lets face it, it is very hard to think of something funny to say about everything that happens on screen in a playthrough.

I watch one guy a lot who plays a lot of morrowind and fallout. It really depends on how bored I am, I don't know. Actually Spoonys lets plays are great and I love to watch them.

I watch them sometimes, especially if it's a game that I hadn't played in awhile, and can't find anymore (such as Sierra's Lighthouse). If I've got a lot of downtime, I'll watch ones with humorous commentary, or blind play-throughs. I'd just as soon spend my free time playing a game myself, though.

Nah, I don't really like them either. If I want to see an entire playthrough of a game I'll play it myself. I might watch one if I found it to be funny but all of the ones I've seen have either been "Okay let's play this game -random thing happens- -insert exaggerated reaction here-" or "Okay let's play this game...yeah...oh look, that's cool...shoot these guys...", none of which are entertaining.

I find LPs to be pretty fun. Its kinda hilarious watching someone play a game that you've played/beaten for the first time. Hilarious in a good way of course! Hearing them when the plot twists/other cool stuff happen gives me a "I know right?!" feeling.

Though of course, it depends on the LP, and who does the commentary. If you find an LP for a new game, but the person talks way too much and distracts you from whats going on, it can be a bit annoying. Course that fixes itself up when the game has subtitles, so if anything you can just go back and read.

Course, I haven't watched a lot of LPs, but that's just from my experience.

Well I can't argue against that. Differing opinions ftw! =D

The entertainment value here is in no way lessened from their prior knowledge of the games. Hell, it allows for a complete and utter hilarious showcasing of an entire games features. This works really really well with all the Metal Gear Solid games.

The only one I watched more regularly was a Let's Play of Fallout 3... It was when I didn't have the computer specs to run it, so it was my only option... But I have nothing against "Let's play"s but I like them better when they are funny and not just a video with one guy just talking over it.

I had to say yes, as I have, but I find them kind of obnoxious. Usually it happens when I'm looking for video of an older game, and LP videos of old consoles games exist in droves. I don't fault them anything in particular, it just tends to detract from the enjoyment when someone is yapping away and usually trying-to-be-and-failing-at-being funny.

That being said I did see one series of The Dark Seed LP videos that was pretty great. The player (narrator?) had plenty to say about the game's development, history, and Giger.
