Yes, I am a total lets play fan, I like them because I can either watch people play games I have never played before (I like a lot of jefmajor's videos because of this, his Mount and Blade videos drained me of a three day weekend) or so that I can get new opinions and strategies for games I already play (this is why I like a lot of GetDaved's lets plays).

Yes, all the time. I'm currently following five of them.

And for anyone else that does, I don't want to sound like I'm advertising but you should check out this place [http://www.gameanyone.com].
Ooohh, that guy is GOOOODDD, I'm actually watching his Dead Space 2 Let's play, as I'm writing this XD

Thank you! That's a pretty cool site.

Anyway, I watch them just for fun. For some games (such as Zelda), it's entertaining to watch someone else play them; it's like a movie.

Oh, I also watch a lot of retsupurae, if that counts. It's a group of people that talk over other people's let's plays and mock them.

This exists?

Someone really ought to do a commentary track over top of it.

And then another...

And then anuther...

And than an author...

Athens a mother...

Am nubber nubber...

I don't use them often, but I watched most of Dead Space 2 on youtube, considering I don't think I could bring myself to actually finish a game like that. I also watched a Let's Play of King's Quest VI when I was feeling nostalgic.

Cr1tikal. That is all. He does mw2(which he can't stand), black ops, and bc2 videos, along with commentary on really weird or stupid games.

If I can't play a game for lack of the console or something, (I will never buy a Wii) Let's plays are a fine alternative. For a game like Silent Hill, I could wander around in bewilderment as to where I'm meant to go, dwindling away healthkits, ammo, and patience, or I could watch someone else figure it out faster than I would (Noooo sense of direction) or fast-forward the video. The player's commentary can be pretty funny too, particularly when using a dead enemy in a ventriloquist act PETA might take issue with.
This is basically my solution for games that I would really like to play that are either for PC (my system specs are shit), the PS3 (can't afford one), or the Wii (Tried doing that once, but I didn't care for the sporadic motion controls. Better to let someone else figure it out). So yeah, let's plays are a pretty viable alternative.

Also, occasionally I'll come across a Let's Play host whom I enjoy watching simply because their commentary is either funny or insightful.

For insightful, see SoldierHawke [http://www.youtube.com/user/SoldierHawke]

For Funny, see Multipurpose Spam [http://www.youtube.com/user/Tatsudoshi]

Yes, but usually only the ones on Something Awful. Youtube exclusive LPs tend to be.....terrible [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj22U5F8iU8].

Seriously, if you're going to do an LP, you have to put effort into it. Otherwise it will be shit. And I know this is somewhat hypocritical coming from me due to the quality of my own LP, but the point still stands. At least I'm trying.

I really like the ones that Shamus Young and co. have done.
I stopped watching them after a few of the Mass Effect 2 videos. There wasn't any reason to watch them since the videos weren't funny, insightful, or interesting. They skipped tons of conversations and fast forwarded through several combat sessions. If you're going to skip over both major aspects of the game, why the hell are you LPing it in the first place?

Only if I either can't get the game myself but really want to see it or if I'm really on the fence about buying something and want to see the gameplay in greater detail than I'd get in a trailer or a review.

I usually prefer to read them with pictures and videos added as flavor. I get bored watching someone through the grinding parts of games.

I love LPs.

Spoony is the best comedy wise, but I also like DarkSydePhil on youtube since he plays every single new game that comes out and I get a nice preview.
I second this. After watching Spoony do a few (we want more Deadly Premonition!) I can't get into other LPs. Just like the professional comedian to raise my expectations. Except for romhacks. I love people getting angry.

Series? No, I find them boring after the first few lets plays. Games are too long to play the ENTIRE THING. That's like 30 videos of 10 minutes for a short game.

Little "Let's play" shorts? Love em.

I not only watch LPs, but I do them on occasion if I have a working trial of a screen recorder (stupid Macs!)

if I like a game I'd rather just buy it and experience it myself. However, I'm debating starting to record gameplay and posting it after a bit of editing for whatever the next game I buy is.
I've seen a Lets Play or two. Mostly because I know I will not be playing the game, but I really want to know about the story in the context of the game experience. The reasons for not playing the game could be any number of things, but mostly stem from being on a system I don't own. Like the PSP; I'd watch a FF7 Crisis Core LP. Or the Wii, I watched the Other M lets play. And that's really it. OH! I watched an Amnesia lets play (after I beat it myself) to see how someone else handled the game. It turned out much more entertaining than I expected. :)
