Sheogorath is one single exception, mainly because I like my intestine where they are. Not to mention witnessing someone skipping rope with them would be a little unnerving.

To me it depends on how much the religion is part of the world. When I played WoW I didn't bother becuase I didn't even know if there were gods. In LotRO they have the Valar, but only the elves really pay attention to all the Valar and the Dwarves only really worship Mahal. No men really know about the Valar in the Third Age (except the Dúnedain). In Runescape my character is an active worshipper of Guthix, the god of balance. After all if they are an active part of the world then it doesn't really make sense not to worship or at least acknowledge them (unless you just don't care about that sort of thing). Though as a recent convert from Christianity to Paganism, worship of higher powers is not an alien concept to me at all.

used to play DnD, about fifteen years ago in high school and while I'm an atheist I enjoyed creating mythologies around my characters, quite a few of which were from my own created Catholic church analogue, warrior priests and nuns with swords shaped as crosses who believed in a god that insisted on them wiping out all 'demonic' presences in the world, which depending on the sect was very specific or everything supernatural in the world.

Yes,especially when I play Morrowind. My two main characters are fierce believers in the Tribunal mainly because one I have being the "canon" Nevarvarine for my TES world and the other being the main temple authority(I forget the name of the top rank)and I play them as deeply religious characters.Though it's hard for me to play most TES games without my characters being religious as the gods of Tamriel are very much real and have very much real world effects.

I don't worship any god, but I find myself using the religious terms of certain games and series if I play them for too long (i.e. "Maker's breath" and so on from Dragon Age).

Generally speaking, no. Especially not in the Elder Scrolls where, by the end of the game, I could easily take down any of those gods in a fist fight.

Seeing that I am always stuck playing a hero and having to worship a good god, no. If I could worship an evil one and actually RP it without the whole game failing, then sure.

no because i usually don't tend to like to roleplay as a religious character.
i usually steer more toward "spiritual" than "religious" in games as i kind of do in real life.

that really depends on the game.

computer/video games I tend to for game play reasons. i.e. being a follower of one god or the other might give you some in game benefit. But for the most part, I won't go out of my way to seek out a god to worship in games. Most games don't handle their characterization well enough to make worshiping a god beyond it's mechanical reasons worthwhile.

in tabletop RPGs, I do, but it is often dependent upon the character and the setting at large. Some games are just not conducive to playing a non-religious character. i.e. playing a templar in a game about the crusades? it won't work to make him an atheist. Or rather, it would be a highly unusual character for that setting. Conversely, it's also why when I play a game about a samurai in warring states Japan, he tends to be a shinto buddhist and will do things in accordance. but that's all part of the characterization.

Only in games where I really get into the character that I'm making, and TES games have a hell of a lot to work from because the lore is so complex. Every province has its own versions of gods, so there's basically a whole pantheon for every race to pick from.

Since im Christain, nope, I say they are real but they are not gods (in game people) they are like people like Shaogorath or aka ME just people that have alot of power, hoepfully you can become pwerful in skyrim as well...
Its the same for me. I mean, although because my character tends to be a paladin of sorts he always ends up worshiping one of the invented "gods" for a world, I like to think its really Christ he's fighting for.

Not wanting to troll, but REALLY? It's a role-play. Because you're Christian, do you also never do bad things in moral choice games?
No I do both of these thing because I dont want to any of that sh*t...

If I dont want to worship a god because I feel like it, I dont...and yes I only make good choices too since thats my personaltiy, im a paragon and the good guy since its my personality...and that it is fun being liked by everyone...

Also if it is a choice, I love becoming a god since its all awesome and all...

Well, most RPGs have Gods, both "Good" and "Evil." Dragon Age had it, with the maker and demons in the fade, The Elder Scrolls have more gods then necessary, but I'll just say the Nine Divines and Daedric Princes for now, and even Fable TLC had Avo and Skorm. But to me, they always just seem to there just to "immerse" you more, and other than that I haven't paid much attension to them. But who acctually, as a part of their character role, have a god they would pray, worship or give blessing to.

For me, the gods have just been their in games to annoy me (anyone else hates those priests in Oblivion when you go to talk to them and they're like "PRAISE BE TO AKATOSH AND ALL HIS GLORY!!!") but if and when I do "worship" a god, it's always in Oblivion and always either on of these 3 "gods:"
*Sheogorath- for my funny characters
*Azura- for my good characters
*Nocturnal- for my thief characters
meh, I don't worship them... but I definitely love Akatosh. It's a shame I'm going to have to whip his sorry dragon ass in Skyrim (or am I? is Akatosh REALLY Alduin?!?!!??!). Him and Talos anyways.
Pffffft, the Nine are boring. Daedra? They're never boring.
One word: Dragons.
A daedric prince is a dragon, Peryite. I think he's law or something but I can't remember.

Do you know Dibella? Goddess of beauty? She is also a sex goddess, and many "erotic" shops in the Empire are devoted to her. That's what I heard anyway I must be honest I'm not up-to-date on the TES gods

I'm assuming we're dealing with an optional polytheistic system? If there's actual in-game benefit then I'll try for a deity that I feel fits with my character. If there is an option to worship more than one, I'll do it (again, assuming there's actual benefit to it). I will not go against my character to score the benefits, though. For instance, if I can worship all the gods through each individual god's quest chain, I will not be doing the one that requires me to burn down an orphanage just to score a sweet sword for my goodly character...
