Not really, in fact, I HATE some of the "Escapist Celebrities".

It just that after they get popular some of them seem to believe that it's OK to start acting like a self-righteous prick.

Now the question is are they acting differently or are you viewing them differently? How could you even tell the difference?

Let me rephrase that: I hate anyone who acts like a self-righteous prick, it just so happens that some of the more known community members act like self-righteous pricks.

Not all of them, just some of them.

Heh, we should start a new poll - "Do you hate self-righteous pricks?"
Possible answers: "Yes", or "Sod off, I'm better than you"

OT: Worship? I can't imagine anyone does that, although perhaps some people ascribe too much weight to the opinions of the users with the obscenely high post counts.
I do, however, recognise a number of the 10,000+ club. Because if someone's posting that much, you're going to run into them somewhere along the line.

But what I'm asking is how does one tell the difference, over the internet, between how a person is actually acting and how your preconceptions are subconsciously altering the way you view them?

Ya know, assuming they've never said anything along the lines of, "d00d, ur postcount isn't even near mine, wtf shud i talk 2 u? ur prbly trolling neway."

Believe me when I say this, but if I were to explain the situations I have been in with some of these people it would give their identities away.
I've been in situations where their tone is perfectly clear.

Also, my "preconceptions" have nothing to do with post count. I actually respect members with a high post count more than I do others.
For example, let's use Furburt. He's got a high post count, and he's one of the nicest guys on this site. Unfortunately, I don't have the same flattery for other members of our community.

Not inherently.

But some of them, because they have so many posts, I've kind of gotten to know (in a celebrity way, they don't know me, etc) and like them as a person.

So while that guy with a ZP avatar and four posts may be just as interesting, I may have only seen one of those posts and it could have been a "liek mudkips" joke.

I don't worship anyone, let alone a stranger with significantly more time on their hands to discuss gaming and other such matters than me.

I do not mean that as an insult, but that is pretty much the only difference between someone with a high post count and a low one. It doesn't mean their posts are better or more note-worthy.

Absolutely not. Most of them are snob kids with way too much time on their hands.

Not worthy, not worthy, not worthy.
Nahh, but I know that they can have a lot of posts without getting banned is a cool thing =D
