They brought me Mirrors Edge, this forgives all in my eyes, though most would disagree with me on that front.

well, they do seem to have stopped the constant tide of unoriginal rubbish and started making some really sweet original IP's... and their marketing for Dante's Inferno certainly does rock... still, I'm a tad skeptical, so I go with 50/50.

EA has seemingly taken a more hands-off approach to games that aren't their own. We all feared when they acquired Pandemic and BioWare that EA would destroy any and all creativity that the two had, and look at what is coming out in a few months between the two of them? BioWare has Dragon Age next week and Mass Effect on January 26th, while Pandemic has The Saboteur on December 6th, I believe.

Valve - VALVE of all people - has spoken glowingly about the EA Partners program (Orange Box on PS3 was ported and published through EA), and they have been hands-off with id's development of Rage (according to John Carmack). So there you have it, three of the best publishers in the business speaking highly of EA. The alternative is the new Evil Empire in Activision and Booby Ko-dick, who I (and every other gamer with half a brain) should boycott.

Activision Blizzard is still a way better company than EA, and even if they weren't, that doesn't make EA good.

Because they (especially lately) try to live up the peoples standards and expectations and fanboyism and rush the games, or just plain screw them up in the process of making them. To put it simpler, EA never get it right.

As a love of sports games... NHL is awsomse.

Madden however is the fucking plauge. Those things are just glorified roster updates. Not to mention horrible games. And since ea has an exclusive lisence, nobody gets to make a good NFL game

Why did people hate EA in the first place?
For me, it came as the result of a LONG series of missteps.

1) The production of software best described as "shovelware" in unashamedly large portions
2) The milking of franchises, a practice that preys on the ignorant among our ranks
3) Their habit of enveloping belovid companies and destroying their once masterworks of electronic entertainment
4) Their alleged crimial treatment of their own employees as a matter of company policy
5) The general reduction in the quality of product they delivered

EA is still a giant faceless corporation, but these days at least I get the FEELING that their trying to produce a product that I like. And even during the worst days of alleged employee abuse I don't recall the EA CEO telling the world that he wanted to breed a culture of fear and paranoia and hoped to ensure the process of making games wasn't fun.

Why do people hate EA at all?? Like really. Because they have the money to buy up franchises??
EA is a corporation and tryes to make as much money as possible, and has given as some great games and some average games and some bad games and has killed a few franchises while doing that, but shit happens.

They make sports games. Which are the only game genre I have never liked a game from.
That doesn't seem like a valid excuse for all the hatred and bile EA has been the target of.
http://www.igtfy.com/?q=EA+games+limits+product+keys they are product key nazis and punish their customers in order to "stop piracy" along with lacing everything they have with buckets of DRM. theyre just really bad devs IMO i still hate them theyre still evil.
They're evil for wanting to gain a profit off their product?
you get 5 uses of your key not unlimited thats not trying to make a profit thats punishing the customer. they do the wrong thing with drm and punish their customer instead of pirates. they are a BAD company. and their defense that you only get 5 key uses? oh well you can always buy an entirely new key for the full price.

That sounds like a good idea. I mean, why would you un-install a game anyway?

New operating system. got bored and uninstalled but later wanted to play again. more than one computer, computer crashed or you had to clear your hard drive for any other reason. there are MANY reasons you would reinstall. putting a limit of 5 keys is a stupid thing they do to "fight pirates" which just like their layers upon layers of drm on all of their games. comes back and hurts the customers worse.(especially since pirates simply use keygens)

i like ea. they produce great games if you ignore sports games (which i do). they do not seem to be afraid to put out a new risky ip and they dont have a jackass gamerhater ceo that only supports his massive franchises that go on and on and on (activsion w/ guitar hero and cod im looking at you).

ea is not my favorite, but they are much better than activision. though, activision is the only company i wont buy from (unless the game is in the bargin bin (20 dollars or less).
