He needs Robin like peanut butter needs jam.

What happened to the fun batman? The serious one sucks and is uninteresting.
So he would be happier with chocolate then?

but +1 for batman being too serious, I mean he is sworn never to kill yet he speaks in a voice so over the top if it came out of the mouth of leather-face people would call if over the top.
I was talking about sandwiches not reeses D=
in the UK we have a different type of sandwich, not peanut butter and jelly (you can't find much of "jelly" as in fruit conserve without the seeds) but rather peanut butter and chocolat spread, something like nutella.

yet we don't have Reeses Pieces : /

Batman certainly doesn't need Robin. I voted that if they add Robin I will stop watching Batman films, because judging from any on-screen depiction of Robin so far, they will most likely fuck-it-up again.

Of course there is always a very very small chance awesomeness will ensue by re-introducing Robin to Batman films, but I highly doubt it.
They've proved they can improve and write well for a lot of characters, why not Robin?

You have to admit. They were utter crap before.

While adding Robin to the series would be a shit decision, I would still end up watching it. There's a chance that they could make it work as well.

Fuck Robin. He'll only serve to make Batman suck. Besides, kids and teenagers mostly can't act for shit.

From just the title of your thread, yes Batman "needs" Robin in some of his story-lines because Robin keeps him slightly human.

Also from the flashback scene in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker... Robin actually made things more dark and demented and set Batman off big time on the Joker.

But in these new movies, I think Batman can do absolutely fine without Robin, unless they come up with a really interesting way to add him in to the movie... then I just can't imagine Robin helping the movie in any form.

If Robin is done right, then hell yes!

Question to OP, have you ever read the comics much? Because he's certainly not there to make things family friendly.

Plus Dick became one of my favorite DC heroes, Nightwing. So if it led to eventual movie potential for Nightwing, then HELl to the YEAH!
I have a feeling you and I could become good friends (nice avatar, by the way)

if they were to continue in the direction they are going, they'd use Jason Todd Robin if they were to have a Robin...

but I still think they could pull off Dick Grayson (maybe skipping his short-short days and going right into Nightwing)
Thanks, figured you might like this avatar even more :)

This makes me want to see a Nightwing film!
haha, the Blue and the Gold

while he isn't Ted, I think it's safe to say Jaime is a worthy successor...

and a Nightwing movie would be badass! Hollywood, you listening?
Well, Ted did say he was proud to call him a successor :)

Have his origin in the next Batman film, then have a movie set years later. It could work well.
"We're five grown men dressed in bright colors inside a clear plastic bubble set against a rainbow background, Jaime. They saw us."

...sorry, I just love that quote...

But Batman needs a Robin...or else these Nolan films are gonna end with Bats dead or in Arkham...

Movie Bob said something during his review of The Losers that made me cringe: he actually proposed that the current Batman movie series should have Robin. I don't think that Batman needs Robin. Robin makes him less dark and brooding. Robin makes Batman family friendly. Batman is crazy, determined, and kinda sadistic. Robin waters him down, makes him less awesome. Do you want Batman to have Robin? Would you still watch the current Batman movies if they introduced Robin? No flaming, no trolling, just polite debate. Go.
o_O did you describe Batman as sadistic? I thought he was the good guy...

Robin would make thing less dark, but is that really a bad thing? Isn't Batman supposed to have some emotion besides wanting to make criminal bleed? Whatever... apparently Nobody knows that Robin can be baddass too since he's basically a miniature Batman...

If Robin were a dark, spiteful, semi-sociopath then maybe, as long as he stopped saying everything was 'holy', and Bats didn't give a rat's about giving Dick a good home, feeding Dick, making Dick better somehow, when we all know that Dick should be as broken as Batty. I mean, what's Batman without a truly broken Dick?

Batgirl, I dunno... Alicia Silverstone is too old to try that again so I guess it couldn't be all that bad... I guess.

Only if they made Robin badass. Like from how kojima made Raiden a badass in MGS4 despite how people remembered him in MGS2.

Calumon: Maybe Batman's Parents will get him a Robin for Christmas!
