Gore is usually a non-factor for me, although at times it can make a game more enjoyable. The only time a lack of gore is problem is when it breaks the atmosphere...because to me atmosphere is a very important part of a game's immersion level.
See Left 4 Dead 2 for example. In the censored version, zombies vanish the instant you shoot them with special ammo (type 'infected', highlight it, and hit delete. Same effect.) I didn't specifically want a game with lots of gore out of the Left 4 Dead games, but I couldn't take anything the game could throw at me seriously because it all seemed ridiculously unbelievable and thus immersion-breaking.
So what I'm getting at I guess is that +Gore doesn't make me want a game, but -Gore might put me off if it seems out of place.
