Poll: Does perfection exist

I hear this all the time : Nobody is perfect. Or in school teachers will tell you ' I can't give you 100% because perfection doesn't exist'.My question to you is , does/can perfection exist.

I think it does. If imperfection exist then consequently perfection must exist. If perfection is attainable is a completly different question , but it's existance must be there in my opinion. If something ( anything )can be improved, or degraded, then at some point it should be able to reach its peak , to reach a state where it can no longer be improved , thus being perfect.

Now heres another thought, people often say nobody is perfect, but i have wondered if this was true, with the billions of imperfect people in the world (current and past ), couldn't there, theoretically ,be one that IS perfect ? OR on the contrary , because everyone is 'not perfect' we would all be on the same level , thus making us all perfect ( think of it in terms of common denominator ).

What do you think? Does perfection exist ? or are we just chasing after the wind.

( By 'we' i mean people who seek perfection )

It depends on the different interpretations of the word perfect and what constitutes the perfect person.
I believe everyone should have a personal standard to which they aspire but once they manage to reach that standard there is still room to improve.
Say with music. If you're the best piano player in the world, that doesn't necessarily make you perfect and there is still always the opportunity to get better.

I suppose it depends on who or what sets the standard for perfection.

You can get 100% on a school paper, that's stupid. They mark according to a mark scheme, if you hit every point on the mark scheme, you get full marks. Any teacher that holds back marks for the sake of not awarding 100% is an idiot.

Perfection, as I see it, is ultimately paradoxical. Perfection as we would define it would be utterly without flaws, yet such a person/object would be less liked than one with one or a few flaws, resulting in the first object being imperfect, since perfection certainly ought to include being loved by all.

So no, conventional perfection does not exist IMO.

I think that perfection of the person does exist. I view perfection of a relative term. Say if you meet someone who has no traits that view as negative, and is the image of your view on physical perfection, that person is perfect as far as you are concerned. Someone with different tastes may call the person inperfect. There can be no universaly perfect person, however.

I would say it's only a superficial question whether or not perfection exists: if perfection exists, there is someting we can measure it by, or something this perfection could be derived from. The question you should be asking is "Does quality exist?" or "What is quality?"

I can't give you 100% because perfection doesn't exist.

Tell them that then by their logic, their decision is imperfect.
Also, on a test or assignment, there is a standard, which is, for that test or assignment, perfect. If you successfully met that standard, your test was indeed, perfect by their criteria.
Now go get that 100%

This leads to my next point: Perfection is subjective, and differs from person to person, case to case. Flaws are less subjective, but something can indeed be flawless. Doesn't make it perfect to everyone.

But nothing in reality can reach that abstract(nothing is so good it couldn't be improved), unless you change your definition of perfection to fit the current state, but that is just cheating.

Like whats already been said, 100% marks is completely possible. You really need to slap this teacher.
