I'm female so it dosen't bother me to play a girl.

Though I have noticed that female charcters will annoy me 80% more than the male ones making me want to slap them up the head with a chainsaw more often than not. But that's not the characters fault, it's the writers.

Oh and FYI real women have spines and a center of gravity that would be affected by large heavy objects stuck on the front of there bodies

Yea, it bothers me kinda. It also bothers me when I play as anyone who's race isn't white.

No I'm not racist/sexist, I'm just a white male. And as such, enjoy playing as a white male.

Female Shepard in the Mass Effect series has better voice-acting, so it actually becomes more interesting to me; there's emotion and situation-appropriate reactions, as opposed to male Shepard's powerful monotone. Plus, changing the gender helps me refrain from projecting myself on the character, which helps me grow attached to her, and care more about the situations the character is in.

I prefer to play a female, unless the game has romance arcs like Mass Effect or Dragon Age. In that case I usually play a Male the first play through or two before playing through as a Female.

I don't really care, but normally I play male. So that way any scripted romances don't feel as awkward.

Anyway, as the owner of a gamestore told me, he plays as chicks since he'd rather stare at a girl's ass for 60 hows then a big beefy dude's for 60 hours

It depends on the female character I'm playing as.

In RPG's, I will (almost) always play as a male character since it's easier for me to get immersed in the game. Mass Effect is a fine example of this (plus I just don't care for Jennifer Hale's voice, sorry).

In any other genre, it really depends on how they characterized her; if she's whiny and/or stereotypical to the point of absurdity, I'll probably be more put off than anything else. However, give me a strong, believable female lead and I'll be perfectly happy (looking at you Ms. Cate Archer <3)

I kinda do, because nine times out of ten a female protagonist is embarrassing. Jade's good, Faith is good, a female Shepard, Vault Dweller, or Hero of Cyrodiil is good, and the WWE Divas kick all kinds of ass (other than the ones who can't wrestle to save their life), but for the most part female characters are just there as more constant eye candy.

Well, I guess it depends on the game. Mostly, I'll play as whatever the motion takes me. In a game like Fallout, it depends on the role I want to play, and in fighting games, it depends whether the lads or the ladettes are cooler. I'll play as whoever I'm shoved with, and with the option, I'll pick who's cooler, regardless of Gender.

As long as she isn't Tomb Raider
You know that's not her actual name, right?

OT: No, why should it? As long as the character's interesting then I don't mind.

For the record, I don't really care. It doesn't matter who I'm playing as, as long as I'm kicking ass (and if I have a nice one to look at, hey).
But, because of who I am, I had to choose the pancake poll option. That wasn't about pancakes. I think. I'm still not sure.

If it's a game with characer customization, I generally go male just so I can get a better sense of immersion and have the character be a bit more relatable to me. I don't have much of a care though if it forces me to play female though.

It doesn't so much bother me as it just makes me feel completely indifferent. It's hard to get immersed in a game when I can't relate to the main character. Story may be good and all... But it just doesn't feel like me. It's fine if it's something like Final Fantasy (to a point) because it has a set story it wants to tell. But with something more open it just feels weird.

Not at all. Heck, I like looking at girlbutt more than guybutt anyways. // this
And the fact that female animations in games are all so more smoother than male ones, for real.
I've noticed this in allot of games like Uncharted and World of Warcraft.
And, i like butts
