Of course. However, the sex isn't designed to make people think, "Oh, this product comes with a free slut, I'll buy it," it's more designed to make people remember the product. An example is an ad campaign for turning out lights called "Flick Off," where the tagline would momentarily flash on the screen, in all caps, with the L slightly rounded and right up close to the I. It looked like "Fuck Off," and I still remember it after a few years. The raciness makes the product stick in one's mind and therefore more likely to jump out at you when you're browsing the shelves at your local shopping centre.

And on Megan Fox: I find it pathetically tragic that people flock to her movies. She's not going to appear naked, and the money to buy tickets, popcorn, some twizzlers, and a drink could all be spent more effectively on taking a nice girl out to dinner or something so that you can maybe form a meaningful relationship with a human being whose company you genuinely enjoy. I think it's called "courting."

It affects the decisions of consumers more often than people think. Even if the tactlessness of combining sexual imagery with that of a product makes you scowl, the truth is it's already begun working on you in ways so subtle it's almost impossible for you to notice them.

If a game I'm already planning on getting has it, then fine with me, but I'm not going to buy a game or see a movie or something just for boobs.

Does Paris Hilton washing a car in a sexy swimming suit really make you want to eat that hamburger? Let me know what you think!
Paris Hilton can put me off anything.
Seconded.

OT: Essentially sex does sell because it grabs attention easily and makes something seem more taboo than it really is. Does it sell something to me? No, not really. If I want porn, well that's what the internet is for. If I want a burger, it's not because some dude or chick rubbed it all over their body in a sexual way. That just sounds like a way to put me off eating that for fear of finding some dude's chest hair in it. I buy something for its quality as a whole, not for the racy advertising beforehand.

Yes.

That is all.

Sex sells. Its that simple
You need to make up your mind and pick an avatar. You keep getting progressively more adorable images, and eventually it will asplode

anyway, sex sells hugely. I typically avoid purchasing something advertised with scantily clad people, however, just to buck the trend

Porn is for porn. Games are for games. However for some people the distinction isn't there. But a real gamer as such shouldnt really be persuaded by that sort of thing.

Yes, because of the advent of the remote control. A commercial currently making the rounds in the EU right now (it's safe)...

It is one of the few commercials that prevent me from channel hopping, and I actually know the car because I watched the advert. So it works because it stops me from flicking.

When it becomes obvious that 'they're using sex as a selling tool, i find it off putting simply because if thats the best they can do then its not worth my time. This is of course with the exception of porn which is nothing but sex but my point remains.

I'm amazed at the amount of liars in this thread. "Yes it does, but not for me!" Bullshit. If what you guys were saying was true then sex wouldn't really sell, since so many of you claim to be unswayed by it. You may not be aware of it but it affects you too.

Yes, sex sells, it's the oldest trick in the book. Sometimes it even works on me.
