i don't see what all the fuss is about
kid is not conforming to gender roles
so what
I think the what some people found offensive was not that the kid wasn't conforming to Gender roles, but rather that the mom was forcing it on the son? If that makes sense?
i guess so
but by the child's expression i wouldn't say its forced upon him

It's a shit colour and as long as the dad gives the kid manly lessons at some point (how to shave and all that good shit) then why the fuck not. Still a bit creepy though, it's like putting make up on a kid, it just seems a little weird

*yawn* yes, how dare the woman paint the boy's toenails pink. This is an outrage! The very fiber of our society's morality system is disintegrating before our very eyes, at this very moment. It is just liberal propaganda to give the gay lifestyle a sense of normalcy. This is precisely what happens when you leave baby jeebus out of the government, prayer out of schools, and evolution is taught as fact. Why won't somebody PLEASE THINK OF ZE CHILDREN?!!?!?!?!?!?!1111!111!1oneoneone!

Seriously, anybody who sees anything controversial about this, aside from the outrageous price for the damn shirt, needs to a) get a life, and b) learn to shut the fuck up.

Yes, that boy is clearly an autumn, and needs a darker color of nail polish.

Also where is the husband to overreact?

I don't see anything wrong.
But I am the same person who told my boyfriend I will have a tea party with my son (whenever I get one) and put him in pink so I may be the wrong person to ask. *shrugs*

I can see how some people might find it wrong but those people are narrow minded and worried about anything that could 'screw up the kids'.

At the age of five a mother can get a child to do almost anything and enjoy it.
She could be having sex (somehow) and he probably wouldn't care, maybe even enjoy it.

There's something creepy about every ad, but this one just seems like the regular sort. People get crazy about everything. That's why there are parents who seriously think getting children vaccinated should be a crime.

Besides the first impression "holy shit is she about to kiss that kid?!" no not really
Exactly my first thought.

More importantly since when were stripes gay? Who in God's name makes all these rules about what is gay and why is it that people who are most knowledgable about (and obsessed with) these rules are all straight?

children are impressionable but they're also greey and self centred
i find it a big streach of reality that the mother is forcing the child
especially since at 5 kids go to school where wearing nail polish could get you being socially rejected for the next 4 years

Well, the colour's vivid pink - it's an insult to my aesthetic sensibility.

Of course this is offensive, if it's his mom, then why isn't she in the kitchen making sandwiches?

On a more serious note, the picture inspire controversy, because writing that will make more people read the article about it, and teh news site will make more money.

Controversey sells, fake controversey sells about as well.

I didn't want to use this analogy because I was afraid someone would mis-interpret this, but someone might claim that she is "forcing her child" in the same way that a statutory rapist "forces rape" on a consenting child.

Regardless, I believe neither.
