depending on the situation, if im in a sealed room with that, my choices are to starve (possibly to death) waiting on someone to open it, wait and press it, potentially weakening myself for whatever is on the other side/result, press it and die, press it and escape
id press it
i know im missing options but im tired and i just dont care

Uh, I wouldn't push it until I got really bored. Then I would.
Me too, however:
I am too perfectionist to stop at an answer just like that, if there is a door, I'd probably walk out of it and not push the button, if it is locked I'd wait until it opened or I got bored and desperate.
Is the button affixed to anything?
what colour is it?
the writing is in english right?

Ok, you wake up in a dark room, and have no idea how you got there. In front of you is a big red button. The button says "Don't push this button."

Do you press it?
No, unless I would know for what it is.

That red button better be an easy button.

But really I would just be patient for a while and then press the button if I'm bored.

Give it a while, explore the room, wait to see if anything happens. If nothing did, and I was getting hungry or thirsty, press it.

If I'm stucked in the room with no exit, I'd push it.

Otherwise, I'd look for an exit or any other type of device I could interact with, or at least check out the rest of the environment first in order to try to assess what mess I might end up into once I press it.

How do you resist the temptation of a button?

Besides, most do something bad and if I'm in a dark room with (i'm assuming) no means of escape, no food or water (also assuming) and i'm left to die the painful death of dehydration/starvation, then i might as well and just hope the button doenst prolong my suffering.

So, no reply on the door yet? Okay. First I look for a door. If I find a door, I open it, leave the building, look around for my house. If I am unable to find my house, I beg for change, use a payphone, and call the police. If there is no door, I look for trapdoor and repeat. If the room has no orifice, I wait until I am unbearably hungry, at which point I push the button, either to suicide or find out what the hell is going on. So, yeah. I'd push the button, eventually. Although, as Unforgotten Realms has taught me, not pushing buttons is a very valuable skill, and can sometimes make doors appear!
There "could" be a door, or a window, but there may not be.
Sorry for not replying for a while

Don't kill the cat!
is this a series or something?
Yeah, Derren Brown does hypnosis related stuff. I only saw this, one where he offers a dude a birthday present and tell him to write it down then makes him wand something else, and one where he makes some random guy playing a arcade game think hes fighting real zombies.

I can't look at the entire episode, poor kitty

Did she actually kill it? And if she pushed the button, did she actually kill it.
She press it but the button was never wired to kill the cat. She actually picked treat, and the treat was every time she was faced with a negative suggestion, she would remember that day and resist it more easily. And she gets the money (the cat technically didn't die)

It all depends on whether I can get out or not, but if I could just simply leave immediately, I'd not press the button.

Otherwise, my video game instincts would take over (it's already an illogical situation, after all) and I'd assume I have to press the button to progress.
