I hate it more when games don't come with some function to automatically mute or no-volume voice-chat.

Haha praise the mute button. Hence I don't use microphones, but I still hear them through the TV or computer screen.

I never use my mic on Xbox Live anymore unless I'm playing with friends (and then only in Party Chat). It's not the trash talk I hate just the constant bitching and racial slurs.

I hate it unless its directed at someone else, then its hilarious how they try to sound tough by telling us how many bitches they fuck all night. Oh really, you're good with the ladies? THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING MW2?

It pisses me off and makes me laugh at the same time.

I also hate it in real life, but then people are usually not dumb enough to do it. Genuine trash-talk can be annoying, but if it's just a game with friends some friendly trash-talk can be fun.

Oddly enough I used to love trash talkers. I rarely go on live anymore but when I used to I really enjoyed over hearing people with poor vocabulary and awful voices go at it (this probably is because I never communicated with people via mic's though).

Yes, they annoy me.

Yes, any game worth its salt comes with a mute option.

Yes, I use it occasionally.

I only use my mic in private parties with friends over Xbox Live. Whenever I play matches in [insert fighting game here] I always have it off. Sometimes I hear people through my sound system. It can be pretty funny, but most of the time it's just sad (like when I beat a guy in MK 2011).

It's amazingly funny to kill them a couple times and listen to them rage.
I love doing this. I even made one cry.
I swear one time the kid's father came into the room and told him to quit crying or else he'd take the game away.

Captcha : Wormco England. What now?

Don't most games give you the option to turn off the mikes? =/
In fact, I believe some multiplayers let you mute specific ones. Or am I missing the point of that wonderful button with "tapes their yap shut" written over it? ;P

I do it constantly on Xbox live, however, I throw in the twist of trying to make it as hilarious as possible, and usually I fail spectacularly at whatever game I'm playing. I especially do it on games like COD, to make fun of the people who are trying to talk smack and be serious about it. I'll also use the crappiest weapons I can find for extra hilarity. I'm probably the only person in COD history to get a 15 kill streak with the Javelin while yelling nonsensical Caboose quotes.

For example, if I was playing Left 4 Dead, I may charge the tank with a guitar and scream "I AM MRMOUSTAFFA!!! I WILL EAT YOUR BABIES AND CRAP OUT THEIR SOULS!!!!" only to get punted across the level and die. I try to do it in a clearly ironic matter, so people know I'm joking. I've found its its a great way to put some levity in a situation, and it deffinitely prevents people from yelling hacks, even if you're dominating the match.

Long story short, I do it to have fun and mess with people. I know people who do it being serious, and cant stand them, and I hope I dont come across that way to others when I'm online

I never have a problem with little kids doing the trash talking, i can shut them up pretty quickly.

but you get the occasional 22 year old frat poser that thinks he's so cool because he can talk shit to a 17 year old.
