Alistair, great writing and voice acting. He's got some brilliant lines. Once you have him in the party there always a humor injection!

In terms of gameplay though, Wynne is essential, especially on higher difficulty.

I'd agree with you there. Alistair's as thick as mud, but in a vaguely adorable way. Endearing stupidity, if you will.

Anyone but Alistair. The smug bastard needs to learn to shut his trap and not die so often. He's also way too big a pussy, getting all riled up at every other thing I do.

Leliana. She is kind of cute, while at the same time very capable. I gave her the ranger specialization and trained her archery skills, and this made her the most reliable character in my party by far. She can pick locks, pickpocket, disarm traps, summon a Great Bear as an extra tank, has good damage and decent crowd control with her archery skills, has nice buffs and decent crowd control with her bard skills, and she requires absolutely no management with a tactic scheme that required next to no work.

The dog is the best. He's good in crowds and is always loyal to you, which is NICE.

when it comes to personality i found Oghren the most fun to listen to.

Gameplay wise im going with Shale, you just cant get a better tank under lvl 20.

I also really hated Alistair, sure he was funny on occasion but mostly not. His personality as a puritan knight is something i despise. Ill grant bioware that they fleshed out his character more then enough to make him so believable i started to dislike him.

How could you NOT pick shale. Shale is a complete legend of awesome.

Her hatred of birds also made me laugh as well as finding out she is a girl.

Stens cookie love made me laugh till i cried. The usually hard to please sten gave me plus 25 for helping him discover his love of cookies and also explains his emotionless shell. Cookies are good for the soul.

Especially his reaction to any other character whilst walking around.

Gameplay-wise, Wynne. Sure, she has a habit of running into the fray for no discernable reason and catching an unfortunate case of the dead, and I usually end up having to use poultices every five seconds anyway, but she helps keep some sort of flow going. Sometimes.
Which is more than can be said for any other character that isn't me.

Story-wise, though, definitely Alistair. He's the most fun to talk to.
Also, were I a girl (or perhaps a gay dude) I might also mention that he is incredibly sweet and that the scene with the rose actually made me coo audibly.

Morrigan, she just has to tread and put down everything anyone says. I admire that in a fictional character. Plus she has awesome cleavage.

!! I just read this I cannot believe you said it! You, of all people? Wynne and Zevran are equal to Alistair? Gasp!

For story I like pretty much all of them. For gameplay, I used Alistair, Wynne and Sten/dog. For rrrromancin', Alistair all the way. Couldn't romance Zevran. I was a saucy rogue, and he was too easy for me. I like a bit of a challenge.

By far the most useful gameplay-wise, and a more interesting and developed character than the others I felt.

Her little chats with Alistair and Oghren were funny too.

Sten: the most interesting character in the damn game.

Seriously. I am always interested in the various outbursts he would have, and with the traditions of the Qunari that he always refers to. I admire a character of discipline and personal responsibility, and Sten seemed to be the only person I picked up that doesn't have a problem with who they are. He also happens to have the most soothing voice.

A close second would be Alistair, who is genuinely likeable and a funny guy to take along. I usually have him and Sten as a standard, and rotate the third party member depending on need.

That's weird. I can't get Sten to say fuck all. He's a mardy *****.

Alistair. Because the only character I've spent any decent amount of time playing as was a squishy wizard, who needed Alistair to distract all the bad guys.
