Because I wasn't on the Escapist when Dragon Age came out, I'm wondering, who's your favorite party member in Dragon Age and why? Do you like them for their characterization, their handiness in battle, or some other reason?

My favorite party member is Morrigan. She could be customized to be just about any kind of mage you want, and she had very good characterization and backstory, and had a fun personality that contrasted quite a bit with my character's.

How about you?

I usually go with Morrigan and Alistair just because is funny to watch them fight over stupid things.

Gameplay-wise, Wynne was absolutely essential, being the only healer worth a damn in the group. (I mean, you could spent tons of gold on potions and alchemy recipes, but screw that.)

But character-wise, I got a kick out of Alistair. Guy was honest, honorable, made horrible puns, was kind of a butt monkey, but was always unfailingly brave. Basically, he was Xander Harris, only capable in a fight. Screw GameInformer and their "Top 10 Dorks" list, Alistair rocked.

The dog: doesn't begin to spout their non-relevant uninteresting cliché life-story at random intervals/plot-points.

Alistair, he is the most lolz. Seriously, listen to his convos with Wynee and Morrigan.

Also, really shouldn't say who the secret companion is, it be spoilers, yoz.

Leli was really nice and could sing In Unthenera, but Oghrenn was downright hilarious.

I'd go with wynne, although I found all of them equally useless compared to my own character. Often times they'd get slaughtered and leave me to solo the rest which I actually enjoyed very much.

Same.

At that moment near the end-game though I hated Morrigan, she's insane.

Also, did Zevran remind anyone else of Puss in Boots from Shrek 2?

In play: Wynne - I NEED to be healed ALL the time.
As a character: Either Zevren, Shale, Oghren or Alistair. Hard to say... all are a bit funny/awesome. Ah well, I think Zevren has not so many votes... i will choose him.

I liked Leliana the best as a character, but Wynne was the most useful. All the way through he bit in the Mage's tower I had my finger's crossed that she'd stay with me afterwards.

Thanks for the heads up, didn't think of that when I made the original post. :)

Sten: the most interesting character in the damn game.

Seriously. I am always interested in the various outbursts he would have, and with the traditions of the Qunari that he always refers to. I admire a character of discipline and personal responsibility, and Sten seemed to be the only person I picked up that doesn't have a problem with who they are. He also happens to have the most soothing voice.

A close second would be Alistair, who is genuinely likeable and a funny guy to take along. I usually have him and Sten as a standard, and rotate the third party member depending on need.

Morrigan hands down. She's both a powerful mage and entertaining to talk to.

Yup. Must his accent.
