You asked for it. I just hope that stealth characters will be able to fight them.
It would start with you decloaking and backstabbing the dragon bastard.
From what I hear, dragons jump you. I might be toast.
I thought you could see them from miles away...? Regardless, dragons sound fun. I really can't wait till november. Minecraft official release, Skyrim, Uncharted 3. Its gonna be a good month.

There's a real danger that upon receiving my copy of skyrim, I will keel over an die as a result of sheer happiness.

It can do no wrong at this point, so the dragons are a good thing

Me too, I'm a sneaky sneaky type. Surely they'll have allowed for that though.

Is it confirmed that all dragons are hostile? I like what I'm reading about not all random creatures being hostile unless you bother them first.
from what I've heard they just fly around unless provoked a lot of the time, but it varies from dragon to dragon and from time to time.

Which sounds pretty cool

Dragons are Skyrim's gimmick but you know what.

If it's going to be one of the following gimmicks:

-3D
-motion controls
-tied to a movie
-random gore/violence (the MK clause)
-familiar superheroes/pop culture characters

I'd really much rather go with dragons lol. You can build it into something unique and outstanding without relying too much on the gimmick as far as the actual game is concerned. "Woah duragunz!" is more of an advertising thing and a thematic element than the entirety of the game's point, unlike the gimmicks mentioned above.

I do have an issue with it though, the ones shown so far are not dragons, they're wyverns, dragons need to have 4 legs and wings, wyverns only have hind legs and wings but no front legs and those are the only ones shown so far. They've mentioned there being more types...but I hope they're not just even bigger wyverns that are simply bearing the name of dragon but actually differently designed monsters.

from what I heard they are gonna be pretty freakin cool, the other elder scrolls games really had everything a fantasy universe needs EXCEPT dragons. Plus it sounds like they give your character some character instead of just a random prison convict who learned how to wield godly powers and wipe out HELL because he was born on the right day.
But seriously most games that have dragons either seriously abuse them or make them hardly appear. Dragons should be something special, they should be something akin to last bosses but not like a singular beast. Dragon moderation!

Nah, that's pretty much the same story here.

Only, hell is replaced by dragons and you're a dragonese speaker too (pretty much because you were born the right day lol), which enables you to use dragon-magic which is actually what dragons are using too when breathing fire or doing other dragony stuff.

The main quest will undoubtedly be superior but don't expect to get a Jrpg protagonist's level of details about yourself. You're still a pretty blank slate and even blanker than before since the only thing you know about yourself when you start out is your appearance and that you're about to be executed, you don't pick up a set of skills or traits or even a magician or warrior or thief outline, those are all obtained as you play through your choices, so you start of with even fewer known things about you than before.

I think Dragons are kinda the idea of Skyrim.

I think its a good idea, but I wouldnt want dragons attacking me when im trying to do stuff. Itd be annoying, and itd make the game drag on.

Every elder scrolls game ever.

You have to experience the world to truly appreciate its epicness though.

Plus, first-person Action/RPG combat against motherfucking dragons.

TES games always aim to raise the scale in every installment. Dragons were pretty much to be expected eventually and I, for one, welcome our new Dragon overlords.

this is what pretty much killed oblivion for me

I dont think the zombie NPC's helped but I just didnt feel like a charachter I felt like a walking Camera..I had NO connection with the world and I juust didnt care what was going on

as opased to say fallout3 or fallout NV where I could acctually define my charachter and I had somthing to work with (especially in Fallout 3's case that was brilliantly done)

I mean do you supose we would get somthing resembling dialogue options or somthing? I mean I just want SOMTHING to work with

I honestly dont think I could play if was a blank charachter as Oblivion (my charachter was so blank...so much of a non-entity it was like I was some kind of black hole) I dont think I could play if it was like that again

as for skyrim...well I dont know

Dragons? Why yes, of course I want them.

Now, this game needs only one more thing to be perfect..... Sean Connery

I really hope so...as I just said before lack of charachterisation killed oblivion for me

I mean I don't expcet detailed....but I except SOMTHING to work with..Like I dont know...Dialogue choices? thats the most basic thing (like Fallout 3/NV is a good example of good charachterisation)

but not a charachter so blank it feels they they dont exist and they have NO connection with the world

one thing I cant stand in games is where the NPC's/party members are more interesting than the main PC..its liek why cant I play as them?

Only if he voices the last dragon.

Before you kill it.

Thank you for the Dragonheart reference; it made my day. I do believe I'll watch that, now.

Hah, what do you think my name is from, that for a time was my favorite movie as a kid.

Pity how they treated the sequel.

I think this is something you're supposed to piece together as you play, doing so in your own image. It's bad if you want to already care for a game from the get go but if you're into the type of thing where you slowly begin falling in love with the world that would work for you.

Actually, new vegas doesn't do it well enough imo, they just use the amnesia card which is pretty much what you'll be doing here too. Fallout 3 actually lets you play through your formative years in the vault for like an hour and that was great, just not good enough for a fantasy world where there's 10 possible races each with it's own origins...and doing it dragon age style although good would feel as though they ripped it off of that series, which is worse than simply doing what they're known to do.

There was a sequel?
